Passenger side sun visor mirror cover fell off :(

My car is only a month old and passenger side sunvisor mirror cover fell off :( I tried to put it back but realized the small plastic thing broke.

My girl friend is the only person who uses the mirror and she said when she flipped the cover it just fell off :(

Im gonna bring it to the dealer sometime this week and just wondering if this thing will be cover by warranty ??

Yes it's covered.

Seems most were from 2009 and up R56's.

This is an EXTREMELY common thing to happen on the newer model cars. My car had one break the first time it was used as well. Took the car into the dealer and went to parts thinking it would be all on me for the repair. The minute I said what happened the parts person said take it over to service thats covered under warranty and " we replace 3-5 of them a week some weeks".

Just picked up my new '11 MCSa (dealer demo model with 10k miles), and when sitting with the MA in the car going over things I flipped down the visor and the mirror cover fell off. MA said bring it back on Monday and they'll put a new visor on, happens often on the new ones, got a bad batch of mirror assemblies/poor hinge design it seems.

Both sides of mine (11 MCS) are broken...I was shopping for replacements when I came across this thread. Sounds like it's worth asking the dealer to replace them - thanks for these comments!

it's a poor design and very fragile. most likely will break again unless you treat those visors with kid glove.

My wife is on her third new visor ('08 MCS). First two free at the dealer (warranty), the most recent one we paid for (parts). Now that she knows the real price of the part, she won't be breaking it again...

Was at dealer yesterday and a guy had the same issue. SA said they are fragile and only 2 little plastic clips hold the covers in place. If you flip them either way hard, they will break.
I'm gentle with mine (I don't use it), never had broken.

Found this thread using the search feature. My wife's '07 passenger side visor broke. Being a DIY type guy I took the visor down and found the problem was the prongs on the mounting piece had broke. No big deal. I went the dealer to buy the plastic piece. Wrong. They only sell the visor as a unit... For $190+. I went on www.car-part.com and found a used one. It was $42 shipped. Not one of Minis be designs.

We have them here for less then dealership, looks like you need the Carbon Black version, which is sometimes hard to find, glad you found one. . 2007-2010 had the hellgray and carbon black version. In 2011+ it was carbon black and light beige, as MINI changed the interior stock headliner colors.

Revivíng this thread. Need to replace mine (both) and would hate to pay 80-100 for each sun visor. I don't use them much (save for keeping sun shade in place) but knowing the cover is broken annoys me...

Anyone has has seen any other deals o alternatives to fix the cover?

thanks.

When I cracked my rear light by accident I ended up buying from one of the online shops that sells parts from wrecked cars. It was like new because only the front of the donor car was totalled. Took some time to find what I needed but it was a fraction of what I’d pay for a new one.
You might try your luck this way if you don’t mind them “used”.
