R56 Comfort Access question
Comfort Access question
With Key #1 if I stop the engine (still have to press the button again to get the assessory to turn off) the up and down buttons for the windows/sunroof work appropriately. With Key #2 the window/sunroof buttons do not function. So, with the second key I am having to restart the car to get the windows up if they are not raised before turning the car off. Any suggestions to save me some time troubleshooting?
I think the car auto locking doesn't work with key 2 also. This all might have started just after a recent oil change.
Thanks.

To get the car to turn off entirely with one push of the button with comfort access I find I have to press and HOLD the button in the down position momentarily. It is also true that each key will "remember" the settings of the user of that uses the key.
Remember that unless the engine is running the windows and sunroof do not operate if a door is open. So this may be confusing you if you went and got the other key and did not close the door(s).
As others have said individual settings are saved on each key fob. See owners manual.
One quirk at least for my 2010 with Comfort Access. In order to change over and use settings from one fob to the other, you must:
Press the UNLOCK button on the fob you are going to use. (Not necessary to lock... just unlock)
-OR-
unlock with the CA button on the door.
-OR-
Put the key fob in the cradle.... but that defeats the purpose of CA.
If you don't do 1 of the 3 above actions then get in and start the engine, the system will use the settings of the last remote used (unlocked with), EVEN if that remote is NOT present.
Also if you have started the engine then it's too late.
More than once I have found myself at a stoplight doing this routine just to get my radio presets and other OBC settings:
.... shut off engine....dig in my pocket for fob....press unlock ....restart engine...
We never lock the cars in our driveway probably should but this is especially annoying if you park in a garage and have no need to lock the doors.
