Just got an email from Bentley Manual is slated to be released on Sep 6th 2011.

That will be a dream come true if it happens. I thought they may skip the R56 completely.

 

And did that email include the price? $125-140 is what I've seen.

Does it cover the factory JCW specific engine/etc. bits along with JCW kits?

 

JCW is indicated on the cover. Don't know to what detail?
Note that the book covers '07 - '11. Not sure what has changed for '12?

 

The table of contents shows specific engines, but they do not refer to JCW, specifically. I don't know the code that denotes the JCW engine or for that matter the transmission. The table of contents on Bently's site may not be near complete. Thinking that the cover states JCW, one would think that it covers the related different items. I have an 09 JCW convertible. I am hoping for the best with little trust..

 

Given Amazon's low price why would anyone want to pay $50 or so more to buy it directly from Bentley ?

 

Some don't like Amazon and refuse to purchase anything from them.

I'll buy my manual from Amazon. They've got great prices, better customer service.

Even bought my 42" HDTV from them. They ship to your front door, both ways, for free ... which comes in handy as my MINI is not up to the job.

Their books are pretty good, at least the earlier ones were, a previous employer of mine did contract work for them and I was the project liason for the BMW Z3 cabrio in the mid/late 90s, I got to take a Z3 2.8 home for a week while we did the write-ups and verified the technical accuracy. I still have the pics of my then-wife sitting in the car grining like a maniac, just before we took it out for a "test-beating". Bentley did all the engine write-ups and photog in-house and the quality was excellent. If they are still just as good this should be a very nice manual to have, think I'll order one too. Any word on CD release? My Pathfinder manual came on CD and it was nice to be able to hot-search.
