I found the same type of deal last week in store at Pep Boys. Bought a filter for my other car, since I need to buy the Mini filter online. Got the $15 discount on my purchase.

The deal at Advance auto parts is better IMO. To get a $15 discount, you have to buy say 5 quarts of oil (what, 7-8 bucks a quart?) plus a 15’ish dollar filter.

So you’re going to spend 50 bucks (minimum) on oil and filter and get 15 bucks back.

OR

You can go to an Advanced auto parts and buy 5 quarts of synthetic oil plus a K&N oil filter for 27 bucks. (filter alone was 16.00)

However, I won’t use anything but OEM filters for oil so I got the filter for my truck.

Thanks for posting that, sumint, as I'll definitely take advantage.

Where are you guys buying the OEM filters?

I don't have any of those "participating retailers" near me. :(

Dealer for me... costs me about 7 bucks a filter. However, you can find vendors on here that you can buy them in bulk (say half a dozen) and get them pretty cheap.

This place has them for 7 something a piece if you buy 10.

I’ll have to double-check but I’m thinking with my bodyshop discount, I only pay 7 something a piece for OEM ones. Surely someone can beat that.

Not to jump track but if anyone is looking for the socket to remove the oil filter housing, this is the cheapest I’ve seen it.

$12.95

oil filter socket

A 1-1/16 inch socket works really well for half that price - Sears Craftsman $5.49
