Two peg things that stick out maybe 3/4 inch in the cubby well. I wanted one of those aftermarket mat/pad things to put there but don't know if it will fit with these protrusions in the way.

This is in the space in front of the cup holders.

Yes, I think it's for the optional MINI storage tray

 

They are there to hold the MIN Storage Tray in place when you take something out of the Cubby Well

 

Thanks very much that makes total sense now. Yes that is the tray I am looking to buy.

 

I believe they are also for holding CDs at an angle. When you put several CDs in that cubby they do a good job of positioning them so you can access them easily.
