Mini Racing Stripes Post them Up

My OEM Bonnet Stripes are not fairing well. I have small scratches and a stain from something. I want to change them and need some ideas. I was thinking some Carbon Fiber 10" Stripes running down the center. I am open to ideas.

Thanks AXO :beer:beer

Watcha ya Got?

Here is a current pic on my Bonnet.

I missed out posting on the previous thread, so, here's my 09 MCS with Viper stripes, which replaced the stock bonnet stripes that came on the car. They go all the way down the boot, too.

John how wide are your stripes? I want to compare to what is on my current cooper. Mine doesn't go down to the lip spoiler etc like yours which I really like. Dealer kit that was installed at my time of purchase. My 2011 JCW in all midnight black is currently on the water. I will be adding the Grey/White/Black
Black Jack Mirror covers for a little contract I think. So what I am thinking is
Flat Black Viper stripe carried all the way though like the above. I want to add a contrasting color for the pin strip that flankes the viper stripe on each side. I am leaning towards red because it will pop with the red JCW Brakes and the Black/red is kijnd of the JCW theme this year. My other thought would be a grey from the black union jack mirror covers. More subtle and a bit more subdued than the red. Wish i had bad photoshop skills to make them to view. What does everyone think?

Big stripes are 7", outside smaller stripes are 0.5".
0.5" between outside smaller stripes and big stripes; 1.5" between big stripes.
Full width = 17.5".

Thanks John. The ones on my 2010 MCS are 5 1/2" wide. I like the beefer look of the wider stripes. Any thoughts on what accent color.

On the topic of stripes (and thanks for that link up above to the other stripe thread), I don't have stripes on mine... yet. I picked up a set of the white Sport Stripes from MINI of St. Louis recently, but can't do anything with them yet because they're officially a Christmas present from my wife. Sigh... So sometime after Christmas, I'll be able to post pics of Moocher with stripes.

Having read through the other thread, where durability was discussed, I wanted to check with the rest of you and find out what's involved in removing stripes when they've deteriorated, and if the process has any effect on the paintwork.

By the way, I'm planning on having the dealer install the stripes. According to the service rep there, they have a guy come in from a local vinyl company once a week or so to do body graphics for them. I like that idea... much as I admire mechanics (and I'm a bit of one myself), I'm not sure I'd trust them with my car's aesthetics.

Cheers,

Spridget

John that exactly what I am shooting for. I was thinking 10" in maybe Flat Black or Carbon Fiber with a red accent line. I am still up in the air though. I will post pics as soon as I get them done. I plan on having them made and installed at a local Vinyl shop.

Thanks for that link Drewster!

Rally or viper stripes is what they are called.

The OEM MINI Genuine dual stripes go across the hood & trunk in one kit. Then you get the an opposite contrast for the roof or the same color in another set of stripes kit.

They don't go to the ground on the rear and front.

These are for the Cooper S / JCW Version.

These are for MINIs without glass panoramic roof:

Thanks and hope that helps.

Hi I am looking for white stripes bc my mini is dark green with a black top with no sunroof. I also want the stripes going down the bumpers as-well. And are the stripes you posted 7 inches wide and the pin stripes .5 inches wide?

These are solid which you can see in the diagram , they don't go to the ground on the front or rear.

They skip over the scoop and you can see the width compared to the scoop in relation.

This will give you a better idea and options. I have also updated the number to the corresponding diagram for you.

I made my own with a vinyl plotter I wanted a dark red but this was the only red my friend had. I'll see if it grows on me for a few weeks and will try and pick up a burgundyish color for next time.
