R56 Rear Brake Light Bulb Replacement
Rear Brake Light Bulb Replacement
My rear brake light just recently burnt out. I went over to Kragen to get a replacement. According to their computer, a 2007 Mini Cooper S can use a Sylvania 7528 light bulb that they carry for the rear brake lights. The problem is that its a dual filament bulb, not a single filament bulb which is what my Mini uses. I believe the older models (05/06) used dual filaments but not the 07 and newer I guess. Anyone else have this issue? What bulb did you guys use as a replacement? Thanks.
You might also look at the "bayonette pins" around the outside of the bulb. I believe the pins are not directly opposide one another like those used in US vehicles (1034/1157). The part numbers for the correct bulbs will probably be a different number like the 75XX number listed above.
A dual filament bulb is 2 lights inside one bulb. Usually one filament will be the tail light and the other will be the brake light. A DF bulb has 3 contact points. 1 for each filament and a base grounding point which is common to both.
1. ok ill see in the owners manual although seems strange cause i havent really seen anything like this in there but i may be wrong ill check again
2. do u think it will be worth it to make a replacement with a led bulb, is there such a bulb for this case, a led bulb?

There may be LED bulbs I don't know? One thing you have to look out for with LED's.... They draw so little power that the computer may think that a bulb is out and give you a false warning on the display.
