Newbie Questions
I've got a few questions on the terminology. i've searched and haven't figured all of these out.
LSD = Limited Slip Differential
OBC = Onboard Computer?
EDU=? (Dealer diagnostic and programming port?)
Also, I see reference to LSD as an option. It was not an option on the '10 MC I just ordered. Is it maybe standard by '10, or only available on the MCS?
Is there a list of variables that can be set in the OBC and EDU? I've searched and have not found this.
Thanks, Pete

-Most acronyms are correct (EDU?)
-ICE = In Car Entertainment
-A mechanical LSD is no longer available on MINIs. Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) is available when DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) is ordered. EDLC is an electronic form of Limited Slip Differential.

As other have said but EDU is not correct.
OBDII = On-Board Diagnostics version 2 - the port for this can send data to another module that can interpret it and display the info such as a ScanGauge, it can also be used to read fault codes and reset fault codes.
The OBC dose have user adjustable settings like date, time, average spped, average MPG etc see your manual for these settings.
Others you may see around here
MOST = Media Oriented System Transport - lasted fiber optic bus for audio and video transport to different modules in the car.
CAN Bus - Controller Area Network Bus - data transport bus that connects the different cars computers together.
KCAN Bus = similar to CAN Bus

Excellent. Thanks for your responses. I'm not sure where I got EDU, maybe that was a incorrect ECU.
Is there a list somewhere of ECU settings? Poking around, it seems that this is primarily only configurable by the dealer. It also seems that they will adjust some of the settings, but maybe not others for you.
Is it possible to change the behavior of the car with any of these? IE switches locks, etc?
Thanks, Pete

At any rate, thanks for the definitions.
Pete
If you push the DTC button for ~1 second, it turns on "DTC", which loosens the parameters for when the stability control kicks in with braking and limiting power. (Good for spirited driving and getting through low-traction situations such as snow)
Press the DTC button for ~3 seconds, and it'll turn the stability control completely off, leaving only the EDLC, which simply applies the brakes to a spinning wheel to force power to the wheel with more traction. Contrary to claims from people who don't like EDLC, it does NOT limit power.
