My 3yr/30,000 mile is about to expire( 3 years went hella fast!)....was thinking about purchasing the extension. Does anyone know the procedure etc? I called my dealer but waiting for a call-back. Can the extension be financed and "added" to my monthly statement? I know this month will go by super-fast but wanted to get some information from my fellow Motorers out there before I make any decisions. Thanks in advance for your replies/help/suggestions.

 

You should be able to buy it from any dealer. Call around for the best price. AFAIK the MSRP is 1395.

Not sure about financing it.

+1 i called around and found that if one dealer is offering it for a higher prices then the other but its 1395, tell them you are going with a dealer that offered you that price... worked for me , they matched it... did not finance it though...

 

You will probably break even on it. I (over)paid 1595 for mine. I figure two fromt break jobs (around 900) plus 4 oil changes (120 a piece) and spark plug change at 55,000 or 60,000 (400). So for me it was a way to pay for it without it being so painful. Of course ther will be those who tink it is a losing propostion. I, however, am happy wiht my decision.

 

When I bought my Mini back in December I did not buy the extended maintenance contract and the Finance Manager said that the first scheduled maintenance after the original 3/30000 ran about $1400.00. This included brakes and a full inspection I think. Was this just a scare tactic? I didn't really want to finance the $1395 and figured I could come up with the cash before the original was up anyway. Or after the 3yr/30k is up if the car isn't a high maintenance machine I would just go to a indi shop or do as much as I can myself.

 

to extend it it was be about 1400 or 1395msrp... i would call them though because i'm pretty sure what ever you do you have to do it about 45 days befor the end date in order for it to be valid or they may not honor it and just let it wear out.. if i remember correctly thats what my service guy said... but i work from home so i dont drive and am not racking up a ton of miles.. to be able to do it from home would be nice...
