2010 Cooper Seats OUCH!! Help!

I just leased a 2010 Cooper and HATE the seat compared to my wonderful leather sport bucket seat with lumbar support on my 06'. My back is killing me! Very sad. I had no idea the seat would be sooooo different! I'm just crushed at how awful the experience is in this car compared to my wonderful 06'. I want to LOVE my car and now I feel like I'm driving around in some Nissan truck bench seat. :-( It seems like in this car you are sort of leaning forward all the time. Ouch. I was considering asking the dealer if they could do a trick a I read about here on a post: tweaking the driver seat by lifting the front up a bit for a more comfortable sitting position by unscrewing the front seats and inserting small washers to give a little height to the seat so that you aren't leaning so forward all the time??? It would tip the seat back a bit for your legs. I wonder if that would be ok on a lease? The other option would be to get those "WET OKOLE" seat covers I read about here. But do those work if you have heated seats and will the car smell like Neoprene???

Any thoughts hugely appreciated!!!! Many thanks.

I prefer the stiffer sport seats with better lateral support than the black Panther leather ones I have now (03')...wanna swap

I bet a seat cushion made from memory foam may work ? Somtimes they have simulated sheep skin on the side you sit on to keep the butt warm too.

Are these the standard cloth seats or the leather/sport seats

I added lumbar support to my seats. Though if yours is a lease they dealer might not like you punching holes in the seat fabric.

I have a 2010 MCS with the cloth seats and have found the new design of the headrest drives me crazy. It protrudes farther forward than my 07 and makes me feel as though my neck is being canted forward when I get the back just right. My temporary solution is to flip the headrest backwards until I can source an older model. It doesn't sound like your exact issue but it may be a contributing factor.

How do you add the lumbar?

I've yet to find a comfortable position in my seats, I adjust up, down, back, forward, recline back, recline forward, nothing...

Under $200 in parts and about an hour later you are done.

I ordered Wet Okole seat covers for a VW New Beetle I had a few years ago. When I first installed them, the smell was so overpowering I actually got a headache. As I recall, the smell subsided over time, but they still smelled a bit.

Those seat covers are actually made more for Jeeps and other topless vehicles that may get caught in the rain. I imagine they would be perfect for that specific application. I personally wouldn't order them again, unless I had a Jeep of course.

Have had my Wet Okole's for 20 months and love them.

Super comfortable and easy to clean w/wet-suit shampoo.

Never was any smell from them, but they do have a product to prevent odor as well.

See my Gallery for photos.

Did this to the driver's seat (cloth sport seats as standard on MCS) and it is definitely worth doing.

My Wet Okoles are great. The smell only lasted a couple days, then fine. No problems with heated seats. They are still nice and warm on cold mornings.

I have the "leatherette" sport seats in my Clubman, and they're the most comfortable seats in any car I've ever driven.

I don't have the "lumbar" option.

Same here - I made an inaugural trip to Munich and back an the headrest gave me a crick in my neck - just flipped the headrest backward today.

I think this is quite the bummer to hear...My 2010 MCS with cloth seats feel just fine with no complaints. Sure the headrests are a bit awkward, but after driving it awhile....don't even notice it anymore. I personally never had an issue with the headrests, but my wife did....she don't even mind anymore. It all takes time.

I have the leatherette seats as well and think they are wonderful. SO much better than my Civic seats. Those were awful!
