I stupidly tried this again lately. I just ended up looking like an idiot with his hand up for no reason. They glanced and kept looking straight. The MINI drivers are changing though, much more different then before. Like its been said, its just people who bought a small car with good MPGs, don't care much for any "lifestyle". The quick highbeam during the day usually works in the ///M, again not for the MINI. Don't get it.

I wave but rarely get a response maybe 1 out of ten, used to be about 8 out of ten. I think the problem is to many minis. and by that i mean well, you never see people in Civics or mustangs waving at each other....
plus most people really aren't car people, they could care less what they are driving.

I got a very enthusiastic wave today as I was turning a corner from another BRG owner. I would have waved even if she didn't, but it was nice to see someone as enthusiastic as I am normally.2nd Gear
up at glendora mountain road i always see some minis ripping the corners. i always wave and half of them wave and the other half make it a point to look away.

Mini's are just too common a car to see on the roads around where I live nowadays. I probably see as many Minis as I see Honda Civics. Many Mini drivers won't even notice another Mini passing them because it's just not that rare of a car anymore. I don't wave to other Minis unless eye contact is clearly made or the other driver waves 1st.
Now when I'm driving my Honda S2000, which is a much less common car to pass on the road around my area, I will always wave to another S2000. And 99% of the time I get a wave back.

Out of the 20-30 Mini's that I waved at in the Bay Area, I only got one waved back. There are times when I'm completely in stalker mode just trying to get a wave back. I'm going to keep trying. Look out for the BRG MCS with black Stripes and roof in San Jose with the SJSU Alumni license plate. Wave back at me!!!!!!!

I always wave but my other car is a wrangler so It's a habit. I would bet 9 out of 10 jeep wrangler owners wave. Not so much with the mini (seem to see more of a return if they have the same color mini)

Got my first return wave last night...1 for 3.

I wave unless driving really fast, then I pop the clutch and rev the engine so the exhaust roars

I've only had the car for a week, and I have waved at every MINI owner I’ve seen (somewhere around 8 total). So far, none have waved back.
Last night my wife was in the passenger seat, and she even did a frantic two handed wave to ensure the MINI we were passing by didn’t miss her; still nothing back! I couldn't stop laughing for five minutes after she got done waving like that, but I was still sad that I got nothing back.
Oh well, eventually someone will wave back to me, right?

I always wave, have to keep the tradition going. I pulled up right next to another Mini at a stop light the other day and waved but the driver wanted nothing to do with me.

If the driver was next to me at a stoplight, and still didn't wave, I'd probably blow them a kiss. If nothing else, at least they'd feel mildly uncomfortable... Originally Posted by Birdman68

If your in Central Oregon and see my MCS, I will wave or flash my lights. Feel free to do the same or not - its not my problem if people are so self obsorbed to be friendly.
Driving is meant to be fun - thats why you buy a mini. If you want good MPG and no fun, buy a Prius!

So today I'm driving back from taking my dog out for a walk and as I top a small overpass I see a brown mini coming my way. I glance in the windshield just as the driver raises his hand and waves at me!
I am surprised and I quickly raise my hand in an awkward attempt to wave back but end up splaying my fingers out above the steering wheel.
I'm an avid motorcycle rider, I ride everyday and so am used to displaying a two finger salute quite often to other cyclists. I'm just not sure I like waving at other car drivers, it's just awkward.
The moral to my story is; don't take a missed wave personally, the other guy is probably just surprised.

being in so cal minis are like the new corolla. after many attempts my first month trying to wave to people and getting nothing back, i stopped. but just yesterday while on the freeway in light traffic some girl in chili red justa with a a jcw aero kit or something (the bumper was of the jcw style) drove up to the side of me fast enough that i noticed her in my rear view, but as i was talking to my gf i didnt think too much of it. but i then noticed that even though the road was clear the next lane over, i notice the girl in the mini driving a long side of me and keeping speed trying to give me a thumbs up. once she saw me wave back she blasted forward. she was cute too. put a huge smile on my face. im going to start waving again.

all of a sudden here in Houston the mini community has blown up, majority are in it for the mpg. Every now and then i see a fellow enthusiast and its become a habit to wave regardless. Half of the time i get waves back lol

I ALWAYS wave. Most people seem to wave back (with the same big, happy grin on their faces!). But there are those few that don't wave...I just want to shake them and say "dude/lady...you're in a MINI...chill and be happy!".

I waved at 3 mini's today... got nothing back, other than my wife in the passenger seat laughing at me. :(
I always look for a wave, never get anything. :( I feel so lonely out there... I need a hug.
