R56 when you pass another mini do you wave !!!!
"Ya gotta wave!"
"(Although, I've noticed that the white haired people aren't on board with the waving.)"
Yes and no. I like to wave at other Minis. Commeraderie. Friendship. We're all in this lunacy together. Whatever reason you want. Yeah, there are fewer and fewer responses, but if you don't try, you'll only get fewer and fewer.
White hair makes no difference. (Ask me how I know?) I've always liked driving cars off the mainstream. The farther away from the center, and the fewer of the car in question, the more likely the wave and response is (are?).
Bottom line? Wave! No response? Wave anyway!

I still wave after 4 and a half years.
I'll wave at you.
I always flash my lights as well as wave to other MINI's. Have not noticed the white haired folks not waving, but I am one and always wave. Mostly Savannah, Georgia, Beaufort County, SC and Macon County, NC.
I definitely wave every time I see a Mini. I have stripes, too, and always return waves, usually with a giant smile on my face.
It absolutely made my day when I first got my Mini, and on my way home from the dealership, I saw a guy behind me driving a bright yellow Mini speed up to get into the lane next to me, and started waving, grinning, and giving me the thumbs up, and after we went different ways, we waved goodbye. I was so excited - I couldn't get over how cool I felt to be a Mini driver at last!
So, I wave every time. About half of the time, I get the wave returned, or get a nod or smile, which is also awesome. It seems to be proportionately more females waving back than males, but when I get a wave from a male driver, even though more rare, it is way more enthusiastic.

Watch it fellow MINIst, the few hairs I have left are white, and I always try to wave. I don't like flashing lights because I think that may startle certain drivers, and I don't want to add to unsafe driving. I usually drive with a baseball type hat on (it gets cold in CT) ,and generally just salute MINIs with a wave of my hat.
There are a few other Mini's in the town of Blacksburg, VA. Everytime I pass one I wave. The town is small enough where we've all definitely seen each other before but that makes it better. The funniest is that there is a yellow R50 that a girl drives and she gets super happy when she sees my mellow yellow R56. I have also stopped and chatted when seeing another in a parking lot. This older lady drives a hot looking Chili Red Cooper S and she always waves and smiles. There's one bad apple around here but overall a great Mini scene. Even a 71 that a professor drives.
There are so many Mini Coopers on base out here in Spain. Mainly due to the fact that there is a BMW dealer ship that cantors to us miilitary. Alot of the drivers dont wave at you at all. Their not really into the whole Mini thing. More or less they bought them as a to and from work car to save on gas. A lot of them dont even take their Mini's off base, because their scared the Spanish will hit them or damage their car some how. Theres only a select few that actually are into their Mini's and those are the one's who have done some kind of mods, they usually wave no matter how many times you pass.
I wave every time I see another Mini and have gotten a couple back, but more exciting for me as a new owner is when I get waved at first...
I was visiting friends in Vegas last week and noticed out of my peripheral vision a car pull along my left side and just hang there. So I look over and it's a PW MCS and the lady driving gave me the biggest wave and after I waved zip she took off...
I love my car regardless, but it's so much more fun when I am out playing and get to see other owners who love their Mini too...

There's a few on base J not a lot but a few that are the exception of them. But you're right its mainly you and me that are the more enthusiast about the car.
My family waves....
if not with the hand then with the wipers. It took some training to get hubby to wave.... Told him he was in a GP and it was his duty to wave or he could not lead in our clubs runs anymore!(and he hates being left last to sweep)

I wave and I have stripes! I got my first wave on the way home from buying Smurfette...I didnt even know it was a thing then, just so happy to see another MINI. I wave whenever I see another MINI even if it is unlikely that they will see me. I do notice more MINIs when I am driving with my husband in his Nissan Cube so I suspect I miss a few when I am driving.
