Tis the season to be Merry, and hat better way to start it off than purchasing a roof rack for your MINI and strapping a 7' Christmas tree to it? Well, here it is. And I always wonder why my friends call me Clark W. Griswold all the time...............
Same adventure sans roof rack a couple years ago. Not as nicely color matched as yours of course. I guess mine is more of a (pure) "silver bells" theme. Sure got a lot of laughs and smiles. Probably more on the drive back.
I once drove 30 kms from a tree lot to our apartment with a christmas tree just laying on the roof of my 2004 Ford Probe. We opened the sunroof and my wife held it down while I drove. Couldn't go over 40km/h. lol.

Absolutely a classic move. I certainly got some looks and I really enjoyed it. I probably watch Lampoons Christmas Vacation 5-6 times every x-mas season and I can't get enough of it. I got the roof rack specifically to be able to go get a tree (and for skiing), and I think it worked out well.
At the SF Int Car Show over the Thanksgiving weekend, they had a Clubman with simulated wood siding that would have made this "Griswald" picture even better!
Yeahhhhhhh, I wasnt going to be able to fit my tree in the car, but that is cool to know that you could for other peoples reference. I would suppose you would also get some funny looks from people who saw it inside your car as opposed to on top.
