Wanting a New MINI

So I have the capability to pay off my loan for my 07. I was thinking of paying it off and trading up into an 09 or maybe even a 10 so I can get everything that I want out of it. But if I do that I will be broke. But I love having a payed off car cause thats what got me into the MINI for so cheap.

There's something to be said for not giving yourself everything you want.

If the 07 is working well for you, why not just pay off the 07, and then make the payments to a savings account, instead of a finance company, so you will have the cash for a new one when you are ready?

Point taken. I might end up doing that. But I won't consider all this when I get to Jacksonville. It is more of a thought and I wanted to hear some opinions.

At least wait for the refresh, that might give you just enough time to comfortably afford a new one .

Keep the 07 and wait until you can get a used refresh '10 model with about 8k miles on it. You'll have two years or so of drooling and really getting geared up for your new ride and you'll get a much better deal.

I'd use the money for more mods to the '07 and maybe upgrade when there's a refresh. I'd only upgrade if there was a significant difference to the engine in the refreshed model. It sure would be nice to have my car paid off!

Buy yourself another mod or two like others have suggested. It'll be less than the devaluation hit you'll take and you can hold out for a refresh or new model. Unless you have serious problems with your car, just save the money and resist temptation.

I have had the same thoughts lately...i can pay off my car at the end of the year and i was toying with the idea of upgrading to an S, getting the options i wish i had gotten in my 08. When i got my 08 i just took what they had on the lot, if i had to do it over again...which i am considering i would have gotten....an S, xenons, MFSW, bluetooth, tuscan beige and i LOVE the new horizon blue. i figure with the amount i would get in trade in and a little extra thrown down i would obviously still have payments, but they would be about 75-100 less than they are now. so interestingly enough buying a brand new car would be saving me money. what do you guys think?

Well the thing is I have had the Mini since February so the lose would be minimal if any considering I got an incredible deal. But waiting for the 10 to come out would be a good idea. I just hope Mini doesn't make the Cooper any bigger. It either has to be the same size or smaller. If it gets bigger I will lose all respect for MINI. But there are some of the options that I wanted I didn't get since I bought used. But hey this is why I posted cause I want to hear what you all thought so I could get better ideas of what to do.

It would not really save you money since you'll have a longer loan than you have now, you're putting money down and taking a hit on trade in. Lower payments doesn't really mean money saved. But, if you want a new car, go for it! But I'd wait for the refresh myself.

Do what that kid did from a few threads ago. Get a new mini, spend all of your money, then let the bank repo it, then you will have NO MINI......

Save your $$$$ and get a used new one later. Smile and drive knowing you have no payments due.

Oh no there is no repo for me I have the money to afford it. I also have a super secure job its called the US Navy. If I start falling behind on payments they call my command they garnish my wages and I get demoted. Its that simple.

The Navy sounds like a wife!

Speaking of the " 2010 refresh," have there been any price announcements about it? Now that I've been reading this thread it's got me wanting to trade up for a 2010 S if it's not way more expensive than the R56 S.

Wow, just built myself a new MCS. Payments would be almost $100 cheaper per month (huge for me) and I would have all the options I wish I would have ordered the first time, and an even more fun car. I wouldn't mind one more year on the payments if they were that much cheaper.

Lets hope Mini doesn't jack up the price for 2010.

Drive it until the wheels fall off. By then, they'll have super MINI's which will probably blow our minds in terms of performance and features (lets hope) Until then, changes will be incremental. There could also be other very interesting cars from other makes.

Pay it off and get some new mods. It will hold you off till the refresh comes out. Thats what I'm going to do. btu hopefully by then I will be able to be a multi-MINI owner and have a new refresh as the daily driver and my 08 as a weekend racer.

Fiat 500 would be cool. But I think I might let it sit for awhile and and just through money at it every couple of months.

My lease is almost up and im thinking about putting a couple of g's on it when I refiance it. I wish I could pay it off but im broke. I just hit 19k on my 07 and it had 350 miles when i bought it. Im way behind on the miles. I should get a nice trade in value for a 2010 with 8k miles on it cuz then I'll owe way less than what the car is worth. Its goin to be hard to pick my next car...either a 2010 mini S midnight black or a 1 series because I know mini will jack up the prices...

If I were u..Id pay it off like u can and drive it. Save up in the process..I wouldn't buy any mods...thats a waste of money! With all the new cars coming out in 2010..I couldn't tell ya what id get next...also with the refresh coming in 2010..it will be perfect timing for u....

USN right!...I'll be on deployment, let my MINI sit a few months until I get back! Did you take advance pay, travel advance...etc.

Pay off your car and save your money...07-09 are the same...just wait until the next generation and pay cash for it...you'll have two MINIs by then...You should be getting paid more when you advance and sea pay...
