Anyone know when the MINI is being redesigned?

I couldn't find any info on this in my searches. I heard a rumor that the 2010 model will be a redesign or refresh. Does anyone have any info on whether this is true or know when, for lack of a better term, the "future R59(?)" will be coming out?

Right now nothing firm, but its rumored to be a refresh in the 2010 model. Just subtle differences, like from 02-04 to the 05-06 models. There isn't any talk of a major change like the R50/53 to R56 change over yet, but if MINI kept the same schedule we could expect to see that around the 2012 model.

AKAIK the refresh will happen in 2010. I don't think it will be a new platforms just a refresh of the interior. Could be wrong though.

Interesting. The rumor I heard was that it will be a new platform and will be larger again. But given that there's now a clubman and an SUV-type model coming, I would hope they wouldn't stray away and make it any bigger. Again, just something I heard that likely has no truth to it. An interior refresh would be welcome though!

2010 will be the model refresh, with the models getting a refined interior/centerstack redesign. The new AWD suv type is supposed to come out in fall-ish 2010/ first part of 2011.

everyone's saying 2010...
what I've seen says the work is being done in 2010, but won't be on the market until the 2011 model year.

Fishbert, I'm hearing/reading the same things. MY 2011 will have the refresh that is disclosed in 2010. From what I have read, the 2010s will have minor changes (Mellow Yellow dropped, another white silver color added; new hifi upgrade option)...

From Motoringfile:

Look for the updated models to debut at the Geneva motorshow in March of 2010 with an on-sale date late summer (the start of the 2011 model year).

I hope the cooper S gets a bigger platform and interior design..As long as it stays a coupe im good. It will be a perfect timing for me since my lease is up in 2010. I think they should bump up to 2.0 S 200+ horses...

I don't want it to be any bigger. I'd like to see it stay the same size, smaller if anything. But when this new refresh comes out I'm going to trade my MC for an MCS, 200 HP at the S price would be a very very nice touch.

But if that happened, what the hell would the JCW be like?

That would be a Clubman.

Making the Coupe larger would spoil it, IMO. It is already too tall. I don't want to see it any longer, and no need to widen it.

240 HP twin-turbo AWD with a 7-speed dry clutch SMG-type transmission as an option.

Well, maybe, maybe not but I do think it's "just right' the way it is.

I would hope twin turbos would make more than 40+ hp but then again Id love to see what a 2.0 with twin turbos in anything considered "mini" would look like.

That is one of the best things they could do!

Not sure what two turbo's would add.

People should be careful about getting bigger and bigger, which means, heavier and heavier. Just look at the BMW line-up. The cars all pretty huge and heavy now.
