Worst thing that can ever happen to a MINI owner

my mini has has been repossesed. im in the process of TRYING to get it bak. just got to make up some money for it. ugh and i just installed sum new things into it. god, only happens to me around here. the reason i couldnt pay is since i dont have a job any more theres hardly any way i can make up money for my mini. and i have NO ONE to help me out. no family or friends. god i miss my car...
i'd do ANYTHING to have my mini back.

imagine one day you wake up to go wash your car. you grab your keys then when u go outside you dont see your car. thats pretty harsh. especially how i had all my things in the car. gps, ipod, cd's, ect.
well since my family nore friends dont give a crap. and i have NO ONE to help me out in times of need... fare well my beloved mini. she will be missed....

That sucks, BIG TIME. You should be able to go and get back any of your items inside of the car though. Talk to the bank about getting your stuff back. Also talk to them about setting up a new payment plan for your loan. Believe it or not, they don't want the car on a repo, and they will usually be more willing to take 1/4 payments then trying to sell it. It is more work then its worth usually. I wish you the best in getting everything squared away.

Not trying to be an *** here or anything. But if you are out of work, and knew you couldn't make your payments, why were you spending money on aftermarket upgrades?

Did you consider that maybe you should have used the $$ you spent on aftermarket parts to pay your car payment instead?

Sorry to hear it.

Please spend some time getting your finances back into shape before worrying about the Mini.

Maybe it's time to shut off the computer and hit the streets looking for work? Hard to believe in Miami you can't land a job at a restaurant, car wash or other service business.
Good luck to you.

Damn man, I feel for you BUT you made it sound as if you were isolated and left without any help. You are a kid living at home (parents paying for your food and board) and your only care in the world is to pay for your Mini. Heck $480 a month that's only $120 a week, you could get a $6/hr job at McDonald's and take care of your Mini with ease. It should have never come down to this. Don't say your parents don't care, they feed and house you and you even indicated that your Dad cosigned for your Mini. Damn to have a Mini at 18, wow! you're blessed.

Sorry to play the devil's advocate... but even if you love your MINI, do you really need it right now? $480/month is a lot for someone with no job, and you aren't using the MINI to get to work or anything, so it's a luxury. Even if you got a job at McD's (which I'm sure you could), I'm not sure it'd be wise to spend such a large chunk of your pay on a premium vehicle--sure, enjoy some of your money, but at 18, there are other things to save for. College, a house, yadda yadda. Your parents aren't obligated to help you out... it'd be nice, but not necessary. If you do need a car to get to work, perhaps you could pick up a cheaper used vehicle for the time being, and make getting a new MINI a goal?

Sorry your car was taken, but if you have two good legs, and money for a bus, you can look for work.

Here's my 2 cents:
One thing that a lot of parents don't tell you: always have a back-up plan, set 20 a week aside for emergencies just like this one. We were all 18 once and spent our money like it was on fire. You'd be surprised what a little self discipline can accomplish.
Another thing, if it was financed through MINI/BMW you can defer two payments a year, for the entirety of the loan. A little communication goes a long way.
I'm not baggin' on ya. There's nothing wrong with owning a "premium car" at age 18, and it is great that your parents let you live there free of charge, but as with everything in this world with ownership, comes responsibility.
If you loved that car as much as you say you do it would be sitting in your driveway right now. Self determination goes a long way.
Good luck to you.

I feel sorry for you, but this post made me laugh..

I got my '08 MC when I was 18. Turned 19 a month after I got it. I was saving up at the start of the summer, ordered it in June, and ended up saving around 3 grand for the down payment by July. My payments are $400 a month, and I give my brother a couple hundred a month for letting me live in his house, along with buying all my own food. My parents have never spent a dime on my car. I have 2 crappy jobs on top of going to school to pay for everything, and I barely have anything left at the end of the month.

I know it's hard, but buying a Mini at age 18 is definitely a HUGE (5-year long) commitment. Of course it's been worth it so far, but there have been a few months where I wished I would have bought a cheaper car for the time being. Maybe letting the Mini go and going a different route wouldn't be a bad idea. If you DO get the car back, how long will it be before you can't pay for it again?

I love my car to death, but I think if it got to the point where the bank took it back, I'd let it go and reexamine my finances.

Good luck!

Well... great minds....

Hey, you're down there in Biloxi. Great military history in that town. Do you have any connection to the military ?

Very cool... 23 years, USAF, retired.

Maybe that's why we both thought the OP would benefit from the military. We've both Aimed High and enjoyed a Great Way Of Life.
