Yesterday when I had the new Carbon Fiber scoop installed I had installed the M7 heat shield along with removing the scoop grill. When you look at the grill it actually provides some support to the top section with two tabs that rest down on the hood making it rigid on the top section. I went ahead and used the dremel tool and opened all the openings up and have now reinstalled it in the car. I like the look better now and the area behind the scoop does not show anymore. I did notice a big difference with the scoop opened up and the M7 heat shield however I did also notice that my Craven Speedwork oil stick with its metal top is very warm to the touch now. I will have to keep an eye on that.

Got off the phone with the customer relations representative from Crevier and she said they were sorry it had happened and with 300 plus employees every once in a while they have a bad apple. They said that in about five days I should have a replacement for my iPod. Hopefully they can find this bad apple and eliminate it my replacement iPod will be engraved with a simple saying Stolen from John Dunlap to return call and my cell number.

What they could do is send a "dummy" car in to service with an iPod inside along with a hidden camera or two.

A little unreasonable for a lone customer to pull off, but a dealership or regional office concerned with the tarnishing of their image...

GPS trackers come in all sizes and shapes and like you mentioned hidden camera's those are extremely easy to hide. As hard as a good job can be to find these days getting fired for theft will make it harder on someone eventually. Karma if you believe in it can be a nasty payback.

That's nice to hear they are taking car of this for you. I always empty everything of value out of my car when I take it in, except a couple microfiber towels and some quick detailer (in case of bird bombs).

I assumed (and I know better) that the dealership would be different. I'm use to the service I get at Custom Mini Shop and the trust of those that are affiliated with MidCal Mini's who all treat each other with respect . Next time my car goes to the dealer it will be empty of all items

Crevier sent a check for the replacement of iPod/iPod Cover/Cable the sad part is they made it for cost only. I guess that the tax part comes out of my wallet. The good part after I purchased the cable from a different dealer and by using ebay for the cover and Craigslist for the iPod I came out with a 8 Gig iPod new cover I was able to keep it within the amount paid by the dealer. My mistake when it happened was not calling the Police I had a 150.00 iPod however when you add in the 30.00 case and the 80.00 cable it adds up quickly.

It's sad they stole from you but most places warn you to not leave valuables in your car.

Most mini owners I would consider Ohana. I agree I should have removed my valuables however I felt secure with my car at a Mini dealer. My point behind this info was for others to be aware that this dealership according to its employees has had and does have a problem. Additionally to not make the same mistakes I did by leaving it there and not making a police report when it happened.

Popped into my dealer the other day to see if they'd throw me a carbon scoop after my 2nd scoop melted. Service rep said no but call MINI.

Have a case open now. Let's hope that mini CR will do something about this...

I stopped by my dealer to get my scoop replaced about 3 weeks ago. They said they would order it, paint it and call me when it got in. To this day no call whatsoever. I stopped in before xmas and was told 'it hasn't come in yet, they must be back ordered.'

Frustrating to say the least.

I have to go in myself and I think that I am going to get the CF scoop and have it painted. I just don't know if I want lightning blue metallic or white.

They are changing the design soon however have not done so yet. In the mean time you have the choice of waiting for it to melt and then dealing with it or using a product such as the M7 turbo heat shield to protect your hood. They have not said if they will back fit the scoops for those of us with the older style. I went with the carbon fiber when my first one melted.

I read a bulletin at work last week about an updated scoop from MINI that is supposed to be a fix for this issue. I think the scoop has a metal frame inside the plastic, or something to that effect.
I'll try to find it when I go back to work on Wednesday.

As I understand it the new scoops have metal particles imbedded in the plastic to improve stability at higher temps. Not sure when they come out or if they can be retroed. I switched over to a carbon fiber JCW scoop after mine warped.

How are the CF scoops handling the heat? Epoxy resin normally does not like too much heat and goes soft.

On another note is that car in the MF link above White and the wheels look cool.

So far so good but I have only had mine for a month or so. I have seen posts elsewhere here in NAM from people that have had CF installed for some time that reported good results. Got my fingers crossed....

Had mine installed at 19000 miles early in the summer. Now with 30,000 miles no issues between that and the M7 heat shield

I think i've mentioned this in another thread, but if it helps:
My original scoop melted... got a new one when my wife hit a deer. I removed the faux grille and it's been fine since then. I've considered dremeling out the holes, but laziness and the fact that the hole is not noticeable put the brakes on that!
