Corvette Eater? ...Fun Day to Work! ...long
I guess this is one of those times where you need to put out a disclaimer:
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS; THESE ARE PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS IN A DRAMATIZED EVENT
Well...I had to say something at least before I write this story. I'm a Med Tech, short for a Medical Technologist. I specialize in Blood Bank, a short hand way of saying immunohematology. What that translates into is basically a person that is the most **** of all **** people. I like things a certain way and I believe in punctuality. The Navy taught me discipline in the "attention to detail" part and the perfectionist part is pure nurturing of genetics.
My license plate is "NVRL8" and I keep to that mantra religiously. I do not intend to sound melodramatic but I cannot afford to be late to work as lives depend on it. My job is to essentially be in direct contact with the cardiovascular surgeon in my hospital and efficiency, accuracy, and puncuality (in every form of the word) are essential.
Now you know my background; or at least a little. Today...today I was late for work. That happens very rarely. I get on the interstate to confront a mess of pavement scrapers, pavers, cops, construction workers...the works. In other words, SssLOW going. My patience lasted as long as it could. Once I hit past the construction I was gone...and then the fortuitous moment of meeting the early 90's Chevy Corvette...
Bright cherry red, flying off the on ramp and closing fast in my rearview I new I had the opportunity to turn my frustration to fun. And fun it was!
I pulled out in front of the Corvette and cruised around 95MPH. He stayed true on my tail. I creeped to 105...110...115...120, slowly depressing the throttle to see how far this guy would go. OK, I said, I've got a fish; and this is going to be fun.
I let the Corvette pass and he took off like no tomorrow. I pulled in behind and dropped to 4th, 5th, then pulled out topping 135+ MPH in 6th. The thing is...this guy must have had a load in his pants. I could see a very nice dual stainless steel exhaust on this Vette' and I know this guy must have done some work to it. It sounded awesome, voracious even. Yet I kept up with it. This guy couldn't believe it I swear.
I will attest to some truths. He pulled away like no tomorrow as his V8 had no doubt massive torque. But I was not far behind and I do mean that; that is not a lie. I really was not far behind him for long at any part during our dance. It was exhilarating...a feeling of accomplishment to be able to stay on par with a car of that magnitude. Granted, it is not a Ferarri yet it IS a damn fast car.
It's also worth noting that my car, power-wise, is bone-stock. Suspension wise he couldn't touch me: I have Koni Sport struts, H&R sway bars and lowering springs, lightweight wheels, and a front strut brace (though I'm not sure that helped a whole hell of a lot in this instance).
Point is, with some serious aftermarket mods such as Alta's upgraded turbo kit, a CAI and a cat-back exhaust I could have dealt very serious damage to this guy's pride.
I am blown away from the performance of my 2007 MCS. It's more fun than my old 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo (though not as fast...yet) and it turns heads with my Porsche-style Fuchs-like rims and lowered stance. It means business and I haven't even started yet as far as I am concerned.
Now all I need to do is get that monochromatic Union Jack roof decal that I've been wanting to get. I hear that adds about 5 horsepower.....
My best and Motor ON!

Nice Story!!
Though I dare say that should the...Ummmm...should we say FUZZ got wind of your little TeTa Tet the both of you would be in pretty sad shape right now. Not that I don't like a good 'competition' I get lots of it out on the Highway, and I only have an MC, but it gets up and goes when I need it to. They are a BLAST to drive and when you can stomp on it and watch what you leave in the dust there's no better feeling!!
Speed Safely and Motor On!!

IBTL, you got that right, but I made it to work on time.
And yes, DO DRIVE SAFELY!
Uhh....moderators...please don't delete this...it could be a fun thread. V8 vs. 4 kind of thing...not about breaking rules. I'd hate to be kicked out. I'm only in first gear!
PS I did make it to work in time

This isn't the fast and the furious on here.
Just wondering when a moderator is going read this thread and issue him his earned infraction then lock the thread.
Then just one more and he's history.

norm03s, KrautHammer...I'm not here to argue. It's all good and no worries as my friends from New Zealand would say. Move on and have fun.
I'm not here to play "fast and furious," be James Dean, Paul Walker or Vin Diesel or hurt anyone's feelings with "manufactured" stories. If it is indeed manufactured then, "Why So Serious?"
Yes, this is a community of MINI enthusiasts and to those I offended I apologize. Give me an infraction and I have no qualms.
I have a quote for you norm03s:
"May you live every day of your life."

That's all I have to say on the matter. Motor on.
