Exhaust modifications

I would like to get a bit more good sounding noise out of the stock exhaust on a 2009 non-S model. Has anyone found a method to cut out resonators or modify the muffler to get a quality sound out of the exhaust? OR has some found a reasonable priced exhaust $200 - $400 that sounds good and fits on the 2007 - 2009 non-S Minis?

Thanks in advance

Paul

That sound’s really good. You have basically cut the muffler out and it's a straight pipe back. How’s the interior sound at 65 MPH? Any pictures of the exhaust and where you cut the muffler out. Any idle issues? If it’s that straight forward, that’s the answer for me. Thanks

No I didn't cut the muffler I had a shop remove the second cat and resonator but the muffler is original. It's not very much louder than stock most of the sound from mine comes from the intake.Sounds like a freight train at WOT.

replace your muffler with a magnaflow muffler (check out performancepeddler.com ) and get some custom piping done by your local exhaust shop, you can choose to keep your stock resonator or not, but it'll improve sound for under 400$- i got my full dpback system custom done for 360$

Hey, do you have any videos of engine start/idle/revving at standstill? I'm thinking about removing the resonator off my R56 justacooper.

+1 on performance peddler... if i may add... dont just suggest a price, give them a call and they will give you the lowest price they offer...

I placed an order and suggested/asked for 10 dollars off, the said they could give me 8 dollars off... i call them and they took off 20 off... give them a call!

I opted to keep the resonator and replaced the muffler with a straight pipe today.
It sounds pretty good, with some burrbles revving at idle.

Pretty damn loud though, and drones on the freeway (but my music covers over it for the front passengers at least; not too sure about the back). But I'm happy with it

I really want to straight pipe the 2nd cat and resonator and get a Borla or Magnaflow muffler. I wonder how loud that would be with my intake.

Wow, that sounds great. So seeing that I don't have a turbo, mine would be a littler louder right? Or do I have that backwards?
