R56 Anybody regret not having the Cold Weather package?
I don't regret getting it, its was a must have in cold climates on any car. And especially on the Mini, since the car seams to get particularly cold compared to others I've had, in the morning (although it heats up very fast).
That being said the heated seats suck in comparison to others I've had, yes they get hot quick, and fully heat your body, but there is no comfortable low setting to leave it on, no matter what I have it set on it eventually gets too hot and has to be turned off. In my allroad (which has 6 settings) I can leave it on 1 or 2 almost all winter and its warm to comfortable hot, which is nice if your back is bothering you.

My same experience, and we have an allroad too........
However, when it came time to order my new Clubman, I checked the box for the Cold Weather pkg.
Go heated seats all the way
Forget the Silverstars - they only last 350 hours and are overpriced. Go with the Philips X-treme Power lights.

When I got my R50, I only wanted the sport package and a sunroof. The cold weather package wasn't even a consideration. I wound up getting one off the lot fully loaded (sport, premium, and cold weather). After five years with the cold weather, I couldn't live without it on the R56. IMO, it's worth more than $500, especially with the leatherette. Go for it!
My car is throwing heat out by the end of the block and my leatherette is only cold for 15 seconds.... I threw the money for that into bluetooth, multi-function steering wheel which I think is a gotta have.
I live where it's a mile high in AZ so it's not at all like the deserts of Phx/Tucson. I would've ordered the heated seats but I bought mine off the lot without it. I garage my car so it's never ice cold, and the car heats up pdq. My wife would use the heated seats way more than me. I had them on my 2 Jeep GCs and I thought they were either way too hot or couldn't feel it at all. I'd turn it on for 5-10 min and shut them off on the rare occasions that I used them at all. They were more of a gimmick than a neccessity to me. And they broke at lease twice.
Heck No....No seriously NO I plan on living anywhere it gets cold. If it gets below 70 I am reaching for the sweater. So I would be a complete waste for me to have the Cold weather package but, the heated seats would be nice so I would not have to run the heater with the windows down but meh I still do need the package.
I don't have the cold weather package... but I do have heated seats.
The other stuff, I haven't found a need or a want for this year.. but the heated seats are a Godsend. They work really well, heat up pretty quick and almost replace the need for a heater in the car at all...
If you have a friend that has back problems... or um... female complaints... they'll love the heated seats too. When I have back problems, I go for a drive. It helps a lot!

) there are microclimates in hawaii where it dips into the fifties during winter. (roll your eyes some more....) plus we do have snow on mauna kea, but that's not on the island where i'm at. (kick me if you want.)given that i am female and suffer now and again from "physical inconveniences" that are soothed by heat and that i do plan sometimes on taking my MINI on the superferry to maui so i can zip up to haleakala, the cold package was a no-hesitation, no-brainer for me. heck, i find i use it even when i'm wearing "t-shert en shawts" because when you're driving up tantalus it gets kinda cool...again, by hawaii standards.
there is the chance that i might move someday to portland, oregon. if i do, my MINI is coming with me. at that point, i'm sure i'll use the heated washer.
btw, the middle setting on the heated seats is almost always perfect for me. those who say theirs is too hot or not cold enough, get the dealer to adjust it.
basically, the cold weather package comes down to preference, as does most everything else on a MINI.
I don't regret not having the CWP, my Tim is a rock magnet, I just replaced my first windshield, with no heated w/s or rain sensor it was $330, if I had had both other options it would have been $1200-1500 give or take.
The heated windshield isn't available on U.S. cars, with or without the Cold Weather Package. I know it's an option for Canadian cars, though.
I just checked the mini website, the heated windhield is part of the cold weather package (at least according to MiniUsa). But I didn't try and order that option, so I could be wrong.
EDIT It seems that when you use the configurator it tells you that in the cwp the windshield is heated but no where else is it mentioned.
I figured that the heated windshield was offered as everywhere I got a quote from (including the dealer) asked if it was heated.
I stand corrected.

I live in Illinois and have had heated seats on every car I've owned for the past 10 years or so. Of course I got it on my MCS. If you want true winter luxury though, drive a car with heated seats and a heated steering wheel. My 04 645Ci has that option and I absolutely love it. Don't need gloves for winter driving at all.
I love my heated seats and have had them in both my MINIs. I'd get them again even if I lived in a warm climate. They aren't just for winter weather, they feel great on chilly mornings and late nights after dark, too. And they rock when it is a little damp out and you get into your car and want to get the dampness out of your bones.
The Cold Weather package would be my #1 choice if I could only get one option. Our Mazdaspeed 3 didn't have a heated seat option so we got them installed after market by the dealer for $500 - they are a must have!

Living in Colorado, I love my heated seats and am so glad I was talked into the CWP when I ordered the car.

I was upset they didn't offer the heated windshield in the US. That by far is the greatest feature ever for deicing a window really fast and getting rid of condensation.
I like the heated mirrors best to get the dew off of them in the mornings. The heated seats my passengers use. I am hot natured so I like it cold.

I love the heated seats as well as the power folding mirrors (those come with the cold weather pack, no?). The folding mirrors are great for my tiny garage and I find myself using the heated seats quite a bit even in socal during the winter or early mornings. They make the car comfortable to drive when it's cold w/o having to use the heater or when the windows are down and it's cool outside.
