Install Silverstar Ultras and you may not say that. I have xenons but if I didn't, I would instantly replace the stock bulbs with the Silverstars.

cold weather package, -no way! Yet it only gets cold about 2 months out of the year here ...and cold is about 55degrees in the day. I put my money towards the "sport" package, LSD, and JCW aero kit and accesories.

Someone mentioned:
>> ...they get hot quick, and fully heat your body, but there is no comfortable low setting to leave it on, no matter what I have it set on it eventually gets too hot and has to be turned off...<<

As I understand it, there is a $13 harness that you can get that will alleviate that. It lowers the temp of the seats to more reasonable levels. I've even heard of folks complaining to theit dealer and thereby getting the harness installed free under warranty.

My 82 year old mom complains that they get too hot and I'm somewhat concerned that she may get burned by them. So, I'm going to present my case to the dealer and see if he'll fix it under warranty. I'll bet the last thing Mini wants is a newspapaer story about someone's aged mother getting 3rd degree burns from the over-hot factory seat heaters...

Hey, it's worth a shot, huh?

Has anybody had any issues with the seat heaters yet? For example, heaters not shutting off, etc.

Well, I didn't order the cold-weather package and I live in Colorado. I did get cloth seats and I've never had heated seats before so I couldn't really say that I would know the difference. I might possibly be moving to a warmer region of the country as well.

I was also concerned about having them go out. My mom and dad both have heated seats in their cars and they've each had problems with them.

I do have to admit that I'm a little bummed about not having them because it's more buttons and lights. One of the main reasons I got this car was all of the buttons, switches, and lights. I wanted a James Bond car.

I really regretted not getting this on my first car, and I live in Florida. I only use it a few times a year but on those days, it's worth it! The heated seat backs are also nice if you have back problems.

My wifes Clubman has the cold weather package and when I just ordered my MINI I skipped them in order to get the color I wanted. I have not got my car yet but its been very cold here in atlanta and each time I get in her car I allready wish I had order my car in red, white or yellow and had the cold weather package. Now for 6 months out of the year I will not think about it but during the winter 6 its a must have IMO.

My wife thinks it's funny that the only car we own with heated seats (my 03 mcs) spends the cold central NY winter in the garage covered up

No cold package here, and no regrets. It doesn't get that cold here in Nor-Cal, the MINIs are kept in a garage and they have cloth seats (with leather trim).

So its available from the dealer, that would help, have to complain next time I'm in.

I would question where you lived and are you moving to an even colder climate anytime soon? I think if you used the heated seats once, they were worth the money. And if you are keeping your car, good thing for all that the Cold Weather package has to offer. I put the money where I thought I would need the item. Of course the 10 speaker Bose is controversial, but if you dial it in right, it's very cool. You may have to order your car up. Don't be afraid, it's worth the ride all the way to pick up day! That special car is waiting just for you at the dealer! You will read so many posts where people ordered and what they went through. There is a post you can read and it shows the process of the ordering life. Good Luck. Where are you from, I am a Central CA girl. Looking to start my own MINI Club very soon. --Stacy

I live in the North East so it gets cold no questions at that. Im not special ordering though im shopping for used cars but it seems every time I track down a car in my price range with color/packages I like it always seems to be lacking CW package. I have owned a car with heated seats before and yes I did love it, ive also test driven a R53 with heated seats back in Dec. that was quite nice on the cold day that it was. It really seems though that everyone loves there heated seats ALOT! ha. but if I can find the car I want at the right price id love to jump on it and not have to keep shopping till I find one with everything I like plus CW.

also if anybody has car fax and wants to run a couple of vins that would be wonderful!

I have, use and like the heated seats.

I also appreciate the heated mirrors. It keeps them from fogging up the way the mirrors on my Civic did even after wiping them down before getting on the road. For me, this is a safety feature as much as it is a convenience.

I'd be curious to hear how well those work. Since they're powered by the cigarette lighter, they're pretty much limited to 120 or 130 Watts combined for both heating and massage, since they can't count on the typical car's cigarette lighter to provide more than about 10 amps. Anyone know how big the MINI's fuse for the heated seats is?

EDIT - I found a fuse diagram online, and for the 2003 MCS at least, the heated-seats fuse is 20A. So if you're only powering a single seat, and the single seat cover draws 10A, it might be comparable in warmth to the factory heated seats.

Good question and I have no idea. I have heated seats in the car, I just dug up those covers for the sake of pointing out to the OP that it is possible to get them. Now, weather or not they are worthy of purchase is another matter entirely...

I didn't get it and don't regret not getting it. It gets pretty cold around here too, just couldn't see spending more money for warm buns.

I've driven stripped down cars all my life. My wife drives a Camry with heated seats and they get used. When I decided to treat myself to the Clubman I decided I was going to get all the amenities I wanted. Not only is this my first car with power windows, I am enjoying all the other little luxuries as well, even the funky sunroof that doesn't always want to open unless I give it an extra nudge.
