R56 Plastic dash cover (by your knees)
Plastic dash cover (by your knees)
The plastic cover for the dash under the steering wheel (by the driver's knees) keeps popping open when I hit potholes (17" run flats).... it is happening with greater frequency now.
Anybody else have that problem? Is there a solution? It seems to just be a snap-in tab that gets loose very easily.

after removing it several times, mine is a little loose and pops open occasionally as well at the top right corner where there is a plastic tab that got bent. i had to unbend it and make sure it snapped into the square hole nice and snug. pulling upwards while pushing it in helps. hope i didn't confuse you more.
i added the pic from realoem. it's that tab to the left of number 5 that come loose for me.

Mine was that way after delivery. The car came with OEM driving lights and this panel was removed and reinstalled during that. After a few bumps I found the panel was squeaking and not fully clipped in. Even though it felt fine after I clipped it back in place, it would never stay over rough roads.
The dealer replaced the clips that hold onto the plastic tangs and it has been perfect ever since.
From the RealOEM image, it's the #8 pieces that hold #7 in place.

Just saw this.
There's a trick to getting this on and staying on.
On the bottom of the panel, 3 screws hold on the panel. Take these off and the panel will fall off.
Make sure the top is hooked correctly with the tabs, then screw it in again. May take a few tries.
I was in the dearlership twice for this and they "fixed" it by adding some sort of goo to the tabs.
