Bad news today
Talked with my service advisor....dealer is 2 1/2 hrs away.....and he says the window must be reprogrammed, so bring it in.
Said the gen 2 minis have a safety feature to avoid having a baby's arm chopped off if the window is accidentally rolled up, that causes the window not to close, but retract back half way down.
Said sometimes you can hold both window buttons down for 3 seconds and hold, then push both up for 3 seconds and hold, and it will reset......but only rarely. Most of the time you have to come to the dealership and have them reprogrammed with the software they have at the service center.
So I'm gonna have to take my off day and drive over to atlanta, from Birmngham, and do this thing.
I'm wondering what will keep it from happening again?

Definitely take it in to get your door re programmed! For the meantime a trick that worked for me is to roll the window all the way down, then press it up automatically. If this doesn't work try turning off the car and taking out the key and restarting the electronics. If you can't even get the windows to automatically go up and you have to hold up the toggle, SOL. I played with my damn window for an hour before i could get the damn thing up in the rain.
