R56 Another AT Question?
Another AT Question?
I am waiting (impatiently!) for my MCSa which is currently waiting to be shipped.
A question that I have about the tranny is whether the AT on the R56 rev matches (blips the throttle) in manual mode on downshifts?

Not that I have noticed on my MCSa. You do get a nice engine braking affect on the manual downshift.
No blip, since you really do not have synchronizing gears to deal with in the AT.

Thanks JCR & Old81,
I appreciate your experience with this tranny.
My MCA told me it did rev match.
I am also getting a new Audi A3 with DSG that does this, and, my ex Infinity G35 did this.

I've heard that it *does* skip firing for a fraction of a second, to reduce torque during the shift... but can't prove it. The torque converter kinda negates the need for rev-matching, at least to some extent...
And yes, downshifting does engine brake quite effectively on the Aisin auto.
I do it all the time when performance driving...

Doh! Engine braking does not equal rev matching.
