Can I close the windows and sunroof by holding the lock button on my MCS fob key or do I have to pull out the key

No, but you can remove the key, insert in drivers door, turn to the right and hold. Sunroof and windows will close.

I believe it comes set-up to open the windows & sunroof when you hold down the button. The dealer can reprogram to close though.

I think auto closing windows and sunroofs is maybe a DMV safety issue. If you auto close some little kid may get their head stuck in there or something. I know its a stupid argument and I would love auto up windows and auto close sunroof. For that matter why can't I have 1 touch opening sunroof, tons of cars have that and the MINI does not, thats stupid. I would also love to be able to close the windows and sunroof with the fob.

There are several cars that also have factory auto close windows & sunroof when it rains... let alone doing it from the keyfob....

In my opinion, I think both of those are luxury commodities, I've not seen on any car that is, USD, under 60grand. maybe 50k....

I don't see why it'd be difficult to add tho,, assuming the car's programming supports recognizing that command via the keyfob, or the rain sensor (and the computer that controls it)

edit: I know on cars that do have this feature from the factory, you hold unlock to lower the windows and open sunroof, and lock, to raise and close... respectively. Sorry if that's an obvious statement, but it's also a logical note. If the car already lowers & opens from the unlock button, why not enable raising and closing from the lock button?

it's the same principle as auto up / one touch up windows I don't mind the lack of a one touch close moon roof, more so than auto up windows. Which I think (keyword *think*) the 08 model added.

Yes indeed, my '08 MCS has auto up windows when inside the car. But everyone is right in that the only way to close the sunroof and windows once outside the car is to use the key hidden in the fob.

Or, if you have the convenience package, you can hold the button while locking and get the same effect. Works in my September build '07 MCS, so I imagine it should work with any R56 or later with the convenience package.

Any news to how to hack the remote control (rather than the key) to close the windows & sunroof?

Have noticed that auto down functions with doors open (fob in slot) but auto up only w/doors closed.

The 'obstruction' sensor is quite sensitive, no danger for kids or pets (as long as it works ).
