I'm not taking delivery, anyone want my order? 2008 MCS 6mt

This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants a MC-S but does not want to wait 2-3 months! Order was placed June 27th at Morristown Mini in NJ. Week 32 production. The car should arrive at the dealer sometime in the 2-4 weeks at the absolute latest!

Here are the specs:

2008 MINI Cooper-S 6mt
Exterior:
Astro black
Bi-Xenon headlights
Body Color Roof
Chrome mirror caps
Quaife LSD
Sport Package (DSC, swaybars, 17" Wheels)
17" Web-Spoke Wheels
Rear fog light
**Invisishield upper + lower (this is dealer installed so you can cancel if you'd like once the car arrives. the dealer will deduct $405 from MSRP)**

Interior:
Navigation
Multi-function steering wheel
Leatherette
Piano Black dash
Rooster Red color line
Anthracite headliner
Chrome interior trim
Automatic AC
Universal Garage Door opener
Auto-dim rearview

MSRP: $29,955 (including invishield + installation cost)

I specifically avoided the sunroof (less body roll) and chose leatherette (much grippier than the leather, more durable, no wrinkles!).

I put down a $1,000 deposit which MINI will refund me in full once the car is sold. I'm sure it will sell asap once it arrives at the dealer, but you guys can have first dibs. I have the paperwork and receipts if you'd like to verify anything. I will also give you the production number for tracking purposes.

Thanks, -Orhan

Regardless of your reasons (and I"m curious too), it's nice of you to let NAMers know about it.

When I ordered my motoring advisor told me I was getting an available allocation spot and I would have my car within 5 weeks. Turns out he stretched the truth a little because he knew I was looking for a dealer with an open spot. I have no other car but I convinced myself I can rough it for 4-5 possibly even 7 weeks if I ordered the MINI. Unfortunately I can't afford to wait nearly two months longer than he promised.

After confiriming with the dealer that my order was going to take much longer than expected I went on a test driving frenzy. I began reconsidering all those cars I compared the MINI to before I gave Morristown my deposit. 135i, 350z, g37, STi. The one car I didn't consider before because I figured I had no chance of finding one or getting one close to MSRP was the 08 VW R32. I did some research and found out they weren't selling nearly as well as the MKIV R32 and there were still about 200 or so left in the country. I found a used blue R32 at a local VW dealer, I had no intention of buying it but I wanted to take it out for a spin. I absolutely loved the car! Not to mention sitting there in the back of the lot was the exact car I wanted, Candy White R32 w/ navi. As I approached the car I was thinking why would they keep such a beautiful machine in the back of the lot while the used blue one gleamed with glory as the first car in front of the showroom door. As I got closer I saw why. There was a large but subtle red "Sold" tag on the dashboard. Now it made sense. The white R32 was transported from another dealer for a customer. But why is it still here, in the back of the lot covered with dust when it should be with it's owner carving up some backroads. Apparently this customer was having some financial issues and was unlikely to buy the car. The dealer was waiting to see if he swing something and still pick it up. When I mentioned that was the exact R32 I wanted the salesman (who turned out to be a fellow VWvortex enthusiast) said he would go grab his manager. I didn't want to take away some guy's car but the manager insisted the guy didn't sound like he was going to be able to buy the car. It was a no brainer, I loved the car, loved the test drive, great sales team, and somehow blindly stumbled upon the exact car I wanted.

I bought a Candy White R32 w/ nav!

I'd really like to see my MINI order go to a fellow enthusiast. I posted this on 6speed as well. I put some thought into the options as well as advice gained from other members on here. A lot of love went into "designing" this MINI!

You didn't want to wait another 2-4 weeks max? I can understand the frustration, and good luck with your purchase. Truthfully - as I posted on this forum several times.. I am NOT a car person in any way. I am a 47 yr. old female and could care less about cars.. they are "justacar"! That was until I decided to buy a MINI.. (NOT Just a CAR)! Mini makes my blood boil!! LOL Again, good luck with you 'car'. (not trying to be insulting.. but I looked it up as I didn't even know what an WV R32 was - but to me it's "justacar") You sound like you'll enjoy it!

Don't get this guy wrong! He purchased an awesome vehicle, and it is wrong that the MA misguided him on the length of time his MINI would take.

If I couldn't have gotten the MINI, I would have gotten that one. For sure! Good find, and good luck on your future adventures.

Just remember... if it gets totaled or you just need a new car, remember North American Motoring!

I too was unaware of what a R32 was, so I just looked it up. Nice car. I like the 250 HP & all wheel drive. But requiring an automatic transmission?

Being a Vortex'er, I'm sure you were aware of the smokin' incentives on the R32. I would have considered one too but just not a fan of the DSG. Ironic how on the MKIV R32 folks griped about DSG not being offered, now they are unhappy that it's DSG only.

I test drove a VW with DSG, I thought it was awesome. I kinda wish MINI would pick up that transmission.

VW was #2 on my list and I almost bought a GTI because the MINI dealer I had gone to had severe mark-ups which turned me off. After mulling over it for a bit and eventually finding NAM, I found a MINI dealer a bit farther away willing to give me the price I was looking for.

Blerg- I could not stand that transmission. I had a '08 Jetta Wolfsburg with the auto-but-really-manual with the dual clutch and it had the hardest time finding a gear sometimes... and then when it did, you'd get that weird bump when the second clutch would release ... and then on top off all that, a lot of the times it did not want to downshift - it took as along as 1 second to get down from 4th to 3rd.

Granted, my Jetta has some problems and that's why VW is taking it back... but my VW rep said a lot of that was normal on those DSG transmissions.

orhanz33 I am sorry to hear that your MA misled you with the delivery date and don't blame you one bit for looking elsewhere.

Sounds like you found the right car for you a Candy White VW R32 w/nav.Enjoy

Nobody has piped up to buy yours yet, so I wish you luck in selling it once it touches down at the dealer. If I was independently wealthy and could afford it, I would do it! For now, one Mini is enough

So they're allowed to hold onto your deposit in NJ? AFAIK that's not the case in most other northeast states. Given their delay in providing a car as expected I would be expecting a refund now, not later.

I'm not sure what NJ law is I haven't looked into it. When I placed my deposit I was told I can pull my deposit anytime before the car goes into production. Once the car goes into production I will not recieve my refund until the car is sold. I will get 100% of my deposit back in both cases.

I spoke with the dealer yesterday, someone from California wanted to know whether the car can be re-routed to the west coast. Unfortunately they can't do this, but the dealer can arrange transport through another company. They will charge a fee for this of course.

This may be worth it as I hear MINI's are being marked up in California.

My MA says the car has been produced and they say they're expecting it in 2-2 1/2 weeks.

The R32 is really nice. I'm happy for you...

For a time, I was considering a VW Rabbit...

The DSG's are awesome as long as its not below 0 degrees F. My 2006 Jetta TDI would not start twice, once each of the winters i've owned it, because of the fluid drag on the tranny in cold weather.

I still love the car, mainly because of the Diesel engine however. I do think my ideal car would be a Mini Cooper D with a DSG. If only.

You are not alone. I just traded my '08 MCS in on a new '08 TR R32. Got an excellent trade-in. I previously owned a '04 TR R32 and really missed that car. I will miss the Mini, but, the grip of the AWD Haldex system and sound of the VR6 at full song beckoned me back to the Dub.

I liked your other option choices. Sunroof wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but the leatherette definitely would. Why not cloth?
