R56 I'm not taking delivery, anyone want my order? 2008 MCS 6mt
Congrats on the r32., what year is it? and sorry to here about the misfortune with the MA. That's defiantly not right on there part. I looked in to the new r32 and the GTI when i was looking for a new car. both are great cars. The reason i didn't get the new r32 because it is only AT.
Love the R
When I ordered my motoring advisor told me I was getting an available allocation spot and I would have my car within 5 weeks. Turns out he stretched the truth a little because he knew I was looking for a dealer with an open spot. I have no other car but I convinced myself I can rough it for 4-5 possibly even 7 weeks if I ordered the MINI. Unfortunately I can't afford to wait nearly two months longer than he promised.
After confiriming with the dealer that my order was going to take much longer than expected I went on a test driving frenzy. I began reconsidering all those cars I compared the MINI to before I gave Morristown my deposit. 135i, 350z, g37, STi. The one car I didn't consider before because I figured I had no chance of finding one or getting one close to MSRP was the 08 VW R32. I did some research and found out they weren't selling nearly as well as the MKIV R32 and there were still about 200 or so left in the country. I found a used blue R32 at a local VW dealer, I had no intention of buying it but I wanted to take it out for a spin. I absolutely loved the car! Not to mention sitting there in the back of the lot was the exact car I wanted, Candy White R32 w/ navi. As I approached the car I was thinking why would they keep such a beautiful machine in the back of the lot while the used blue one gleamed with glory as the first car in front of the showroom door. As I got closer I saw why. There was a large but subtle red "Sold" tag on the dashboard. Now it made sense. The white R32 was transported from another dealer for a customer. But why is it still here, in the back of the lot covered with dust when it should be with it's owner carving up some backroads. Apparently this customer was having some financial issues and was unlikely to buy the car. The dealer was waiting to see if he swing something and still pick it up. When I mentioned that was the exact R32 I wanted the salesman (who turned out to be a fellow VWvortex enthusiast) said he would go grab his manager. I didn't want to take away some guy's car but the manager insisted the guy didn't sound like he was going to be able to buy the car. It was a no brainer, I loved the car, loved the test drive, great sales team, and somehow blindly stumbled upon the exact car I wanted.
I bought a Candy White R32 w/ nav!
I'd really like to see my MINI order go to a fellow enthusiast. I posted this on 6speed as well. I put some thought into the options as well as advice gained from other members on here. A lot of love went into "designing" this MINI!

I owned 2 Audi's. One was a buyback and the second one was lemon lawed. There is no way I would ever own a VW/Audi product again.
Lack of MINIs
It's good as sold...probably will be sold the same day they put it out...unless someone from another state calls and put a deposit on it (internet sales)...
That would be a good ride for someone to take home from PA, NY, CT, RI, NH, VT, MA, WV, VA, MD, DC, DE...or even have it transported to SoCal.

Center of Gravity
The weight of the sunroof mechanism on top of the car raises the center of gravity, increasing body roll on turns. Is it detectable? Measurable? I don't know, but that's the theory. (P.S. Take off your hat and earphones, too, before heading into those curves...)
