R56 Drum Set In My MINI!
Drum Set In My MINI!
OK, I am a drummer who now drives a MINI. The big question was - will it fit?
Oscar surpasses awsome: I am averaging ~38 mpg, and I can fit my drum set in it - hardware and all!
6 cymbals
1 high hat
1 snare
1 bass drum
2 mounted toms
two floor toms
Here are a few photos of the test fit: (since it was a test, I did not place drums in soft cases and used my hard shell bass drum case instead of the bass drum, and the hardware bag was empty, but is essentially the same size when full)
Looking forward to my next gig!!

You didn't check this out BEFORE you bought your MINI? Did that O2Blue just sweep you off your feet (and mind) and you found yourself plunking down your cash without thinking of how you were going to replenish it
?No matter--looks like it worked out great and MINI has yet another success story for the myriad of MINIacs out there! Good on ya!

I had trouble transporting my bass amp because there was too much room and it slid around a little. Just got brand new electric drums so i will have no trouble transporting those.
D-Unit
You went from bass to electric drums? Or did you always play both? Are you in a group?
These roomy on the inside MINIs pack a lot more than most people think. I helped my daughter move out of her apartment last year when she graduated college and had no choice but to stuff the boot and rear with TV, shoes and more shoes, clothes, books, kitchenware, small throw rug, etc.
As an aside, what? No mention of "so, where did you put the drumsticks?" to EDN?

This is one amazing automobile, by gosh!
Motor on!
Hey thanks for your concern, I hear you!
Never transport your drums w/o cases.
Since this was a stationary test, I did not put the drums in thier cozy padded soft cases, and I was VERY careful placing the drums for both the drums sake and Oscars!
I also left the bass drum out of the hard case since I wasn't going anware.
In addition, the hardware case was (thankfully empty - all that chrome adds up!) But for sixe and fit purposes, there was plenty of support and room for the innards when added.
One more - cymbal case is round and only about 5 inches thick. Fits nicely on top of bass drum case. On a quick stop - heads up as it were.

As for being in a group...not exactly. We have the people but we never actually formed a band. A friend and I are starting to record though.
Yea - I have been really happy with what the MINI will hold. I've got an Ampeg 2x12" cabinet, gig-bag, 3-space rack bag, and bass in a soft case - they fit right in with plenty of room to spare. Actually, I could carry a second cabinet, if needed.
I did buy one of those fitted "mats" to protect the back of the seats when they're folded down. I imagine that carpeting would take a beating without it.
Peace !

I swear, Beauford looks like he is playing a two man trap set. He's got more drums than you can shake a stick at.
Neal Pert is a legend.
Both have more equipment on stage than will fit in a Clubman or two.
Steve Smith is one of my faves. Love them double bass bangers!
