Any 'must haves' for our second MCS?
So I'm quite sure that I'll be adding another MCS to our household. I tried configuring another one online and besides metallic paint and sunroof delete, it'll likely be the same as our current car.
Current car:
PW/PW/leatherette
Cold Weather Pack
LSD
Xenons
Rear Fogs
Sunroof
Anthracite Headliner
Piano Black
Bridgespokes (Eventually to be replaced with 17" R99's)
Planned car:
LB/B or BRG/W w/cloth
WTS
LSD
Xenons
Rear Fogs
Anthracite Headliner
S-Winders
Anything else I 'really' need for this planned car? I can't think of anything I must have at the moment. I'm debating whether or not to add a sunroof to this car since we have one on the other as well as heated cloth. It's nice to have, but I don't know if it's an additional $500 nice.
Also, if I order with any JCW parts, would I have to pay any install fees or is it factory installed?
Thanks!

DSC was must have for me. If I would of had it on my Accord, i would not have totaled it in the freak Blizzard we had in March. Double edged sword though. I also would not be driving a MINI right now. Besides the obvious safety advantage it also gives you Hill Assist which I find invaluable.
The other feature that I highly recomend is the Convience pack. The keyless entry/start is great.
If you can swing it in your budget, get the navigation. And, depending on you tastes, get the anthracite headliner. Happy Motoring!

I'm a big fan of the sunroof - although I know a lot of folks in sunny-hot climates don't go for it. I have the two shaped sunshades for the sun roof, so if the car is sitting for a while in the sun (not my optimum choice!) the cab isn't bad. But the sun roof -- besides becoming evil when opened, and making me want to speed -- is great for light inside and for headroom. And if you're looking at it for later resale, it's a plus.
The nav -- I'm kinda squiffy on that. Didn't have it in my '04 MCS, got it in my '07 MCS...it's nice, but took a while to get used to. The nav DVDs are typically almost $200 each, with recommended replacement every 3-5 years.
Don't get the armrest. I don't know what I was thinking.
And GO BRG/W!!!!!

Yeah the multi function steering wheel... I can't imagine not having the cruise control right there for you. Where do they even put it if you don't get that... the console? Most cruise controls are on the turn signal stick.
FWIW, the two features I wish I got that I didn't were the anthracite headliner and carbon lounge leather, the two features I'm glad I didn't wind up opting for were xenons and rear fogs, oh and the two features I'm most happy I opted for are sunroof, and bluetooth.
Oh and BRG/W FTMFW

I'll be getting an '09, so it'll come with DSC standard. If I do go for the sunroof again, it'll be with the new Premium pack, so it'll have the mfsw and auto a/c as well.
If you don't get the MFSW you don't get cruise control
MFSW is something you definitely need to add.
DSC if you can afford it, it'll pay for itself if you go to trade the car in, and add all sorts of nice safety features, including hill assist.

JCW parts are dealer installed items so you would have to pay for installation(including paint). I know some people have gotten them installed at VPC but i'm not sure if it costs less to do that or not.
JCW
BRG!
Wish I'd gotten the cold weather package, but am happy without the MFSW and NAV. Getting lost in a MINI means more driving time!!!
No leather?? BRG cries out for beautiful leather!

I'd love a stage 2 jcw, but it would be hard to justify w/o driving it.
I agree that mfsw isn't necessary, though i'd likely get the '09 premium pack if I opted for the sunroof. I'm good w/o nav as well.

Well I don't have it and after driving for 6 hours on the highway with another 6 to go (which I often do) I finding myself wishing I had it.

Agreed, it would be nice to have on long trips, but on my commute it would be redundant I think.
I'm currently thinking maybe a stripped down JCW (meaning paint, wts, stripes and rear fogs) is the car I'm gonna order, assuming I can even get one around December.

Huh? That's not an option...is it? Any MAs amongst us? We are talking about the same thing, aren't we? The little button that's on the console in front of the shifter, right?
FWIW, you may want to think of resale value on this one. MFSW would DEFINITELY be worth it if you think of it that way. You don't actually have to USE it (although you might one day).
My wife has a Honda Fit without cruise and i can't stand driving it on the Freeway. I can handle it, but ever so often I like to stretch my feet out. I can't do it without accelerating and lifting my foot for a quick stretch. Then their is another problem. After test driving a miniS. I found myself speeding way to easily, goes for my current WRX. Cruise control saves me from getting to many tickets.

I have a pretty stable foot, so I guess I never really cared for cruise. I didn't get it for our current car since the wife never used it in her previous car.
Since I'm now leaning towards a stripped out Works car, I think I'll have to pass on the mfsw again due to it adding more clutter to the interior!

Looks good though!
