Wouldn't have a car without a sun roof..... I'd like a cabrio but tend to carry a lot of "stuff" and don't want to have to worry about raising the top every time I leave the car for a few minutes.
The sun roof rocks, I don't have graphics on it and it looks fine, it's my first car with a sun roof and I can't believe I never had them before. Plus this dual pane is awesome!
Finally some positive feedback! I keep hearing about how the sunroof gets sticky, how it makes the car hot, how people get sunburns. I wanted to make sure I make the right decision! haha
I love the sunroof in my car. And, contrary to the opinion of some, I really like the versatility of the sun shade.
In other cars, the solid sun shade can only be used when the sunroof is closed. With the MINI shade, I can use the shade when I have the roof vented or even when it is completely open if the sun is too strong. IMO, it gives you more options and shades just right!
I love my sunroof as well. In fact, I did not realize that I would get so many questions about the sunroof when it is just "popped' open as both the front and back pop up. Then the back one drops down if the front one is completely opened. Look in my gallery for pics with them "popped" it is very cool. I think I like them better both opened a little. heheheh
I couldn't own one without, a mini without the sunroof feels so cramped inside its unbearable to me. Not to mention despite its ranted about flaws (on this site) the sunroof on the R56 is probably the best designed sunroof available in any car.
L O V E I T!!! I keep the sunroof cracked a bit, even during rainstorms (when it's hot out) to let the car breathe, and no issies. I also got the special sun shade inserts, which really cut down the heat inside the car if I have to leave it sitting in the sun (everybody fights for the parking spots in the shade!)
Love it. I got thin sunshades at a dollar store and cut them to insert between the window and the pull shade -- just for very hot days. Works like a charm but I have it open most of the time.

Silicone spray helps keep the sticky's at bay! Making the car hot? Get a cab cover, takes 2 minutes to put on and 1 minute to take off, put a perforated graphic on the roof and that helps cut down the heat and glare considerably. Sunburns......more like "Motoring-Glow "! You made the right decision!
I cant see how people complain that it makes the car that hot, I mean it really only makes the car hotter when parked, and then because of the sunroof it can be cooled much faster (by opening the roof) than any car w/o a sunroof, which more than makes up for it. Once moving, and vented, it keeps very cool, and if the sun really bothers you that much (I find the screens do more than a good enough job) you could always get them tinted, or get a graphic.

Actually its a great design, I think in respect to sunroofs its quite perfect, only improvement I would want would be a magic **** that controlled the tint level.

+1
I just had a loaner MINI that didn't have a sunroof. It just felt all closed in like I was driving a very small school bus
Anyway I wouldn't buy a MINI without a sunroof. It makes the car even more fun.
I flipped back and forth a bit before ordering. My previous two vehicles had sunroofs, although they just happened to be on cars I bought rather than an option I looked for. Previously I can't say I ever used them more than a dozen times in a year. Nice to have, but not a must have. On the MINI however this is an excellent feature imo, and sees much use. I think I would be disappointed to own another without one. I'm also impressed that considering their size they create less noise than my previous vehicles. My better half was right again.
