Dynaplug Question???

I saw on a tire thread where Dynaplug was suggested as a easy way to plug a runflat. I'm interested in what happens to the tip of the plug after a while. Does it stay attached or does it come loose and float around the inside of the tire? If it detaches, could it impact the TPS in the tire?

you just cut off the excess tip that protrudes beyond the tread.

It's not going anywhere.

IMO plugs are not the best way to repair a tire. Patches done on the inside are the preferred way.

oops my bad. i doubt the tip inside will break off. centrifugal force will prevent that from happening.

while i agree that patches are superior in someways, one can't patch a tire on the side of the road

No you sure can't. I'd just slap the spare on, but that's because I have a spare.

Thanks for the replies so far. It is the tip inside the tire that I am concerned about. I googled Dynaplug and there were a few pieces of info out there that indicated that the tip might come loose and just roll around inside the tire, but there was nothing related to its impact on the TPS.

I know a plug is not considered the best way to go these days, but I have been driving for 30+ plus years and had many tires plugged and never had any issues with them. I understand that technology has changed a bit during this time which may make plugs less of a viable solution. I have heard that the runflats are a pain to get off the rim (crown spokes) and I hate to have the rims messed up after only 3000 miles.

I value the thoughts and opinions that are provided here. Please keep them coming.
