Took the plunge -- another convert to MINI

New to site, and wanted to thank all of you first for providing a wealth of knowledge, data points, and advice.

I placed my order today for a 09 MCS -- as much as I love my beloved 5-series the Mini is the best of everything to me -- sporty, great gas mileage, and a looker! Here's what I got:
Dark Silver, White Roof and Bonnet Stripes
Sport package
Convenience Package
Premium Package
Xenon Lights
LSD
RFL
6 speed manual
Lounge Carbon Black Leather
JCW Sport Brake kit

The dealer said I was #3 for an 09 order and production starts in September with a delivery of around October, but probably November (now I know what folks meant about waiting!! ).

So excited and can't wait!

Welcome to the dark side...

Except for the premium, the leather and the brakes,
we share the same ride.
Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

Reminds me a question that I'm not sure if I have a good handle on . . . So the JCW brake kit is a dealer installed accessory, correct? So that means they will charge a price for that, right? If someone can PM what is ballpark cost of installation that would be great. I got a quote and just want to make sure i'm not 'out of the park' thx in advance

I looked in to the JCW brake kit before I bought, I believe it was around $1300. Ball park.
I decided to hold off and see what aftermarket parts come out.

Distance only makes the heart grow fonder... and your heart is going to be very fond of your mini when it gets here. You have got some wait in front of you. It will go by tho, i cant say fast, but it will sure be better since you found NAM.

Thanks Riffster. Once I get the VIN and sign up the owners forum to track that will be just like the cruelest tease!

Congratz! There's quite a few of us who came from the Bimmer world and took the Mini plunge.

Well I'm going to drive my current car hard until I get my MCS. It was funny, when i was doing the paperwork, my MA was telling me I was literally the fourth BMW person making the switch at their dealership. Also what was facinating (I know there is a thread about it), he was saying the demographics of people now buying Minis are all over the map. Had an 84 old woman pick one up (a convert - solid!!)

Were you specifically looking for an '09 or was that the earliest you could get at your dealership? I won't quite be ready to order until the '09s go into production, but I'm wondering if I need to go ahead and talk to my MA. I don't want to wait until August/September (when I'm ready) and then turn around and wait another 2 months or so because I didn't act quick enough.

Were there any changes in pricing/packages on the 2009 models?

Or are you able to make changes to your vehicle so long as it hasn't started production?

I'm about to order one as well but kind of worried that the price is going up on the 09's and the packages are going to reflect the current 2009 JCW models..

The particular dealer said their 08 allocation was out and I checked a few others and they said 09s are all what they were taking now.

The only thing the MA said was what we all know which was limited details. My MA said I can change my order anytime prior it going into production and if the price increase is more than I'm comfortable with, they would refund my deposit. For me, I just wanted a MCS 08 or 09 (putting aside the potential price increase).

Sure enough. Just got word from my MA, demand is higher than it's ever been and they are taking orders for October builds (MY09) right now. He said they (Richmond, VA) are taking about a dozen orders a day. So it looks like the 09s are here and it's ordering time!

No word on specific MY changes, but I'll see what I can dig up over the next couple of days.

Nice config except you're missing the cold weather package. The butt warmers are awesome even here in the mild weather Bay Area. The folding mirrors are cool too. It's worth the extra $500.
