Hand made checkers - is it ugly

Hi guys...is it ugly? I made it with electrical tape, sort of try it out before placing custom orders. I only made it on one side...let me know your opinions please

Perhaps if you compared it with a checkered flag, you'd notice the difference.

That doesn't work...

That's more plaid than checkered...

Hmmm... I would suggest you try it on your mirror caps. I think the checkered pattern is great as a small detail, but having it on the A-pillar just doesn't look right to me.

Just my .02

Couldn't you take the side checkers and vinyl wrap it?

U G L Y ... you need to stagger the pattern, looks like just lines of electrical tape run up and down...not a pretty sight.

Not sure if you want the "A" pillar to be done that way...

Yeah, you know the pattern is off already. But as far as the concept goes...

A-pillars are not a part of the car you want to make stand out that way. Throws off the balance of the car. Lots of other places you can add checkers to besides that one. Pick another. Or twelve.

Yeah, I hate to say it but since you asked.... yes, it's UGLY. I have to agree with the rest.... wrong pattern and IMO, wrong place to have checkerboard stripes.

Give ya an "A" for trying to think outside the box. Now, just get back into the box...

Here's a PC mockup for you. But I agree with the others, not the place for checkers.

I think they would look better if they were parallel to the ground then slanted like that into diamonds

Well, checkers aren't ever gonna be low key. I think that the photoshopped mock ups aren't bad. No worse than putting the same on the fender below it.

I don't think that the B&W plaid is gonna catch on, though.

i'm actually gonna cut vinyl squares myself to checker the roof. it really shouldn't be hard if you're meticulous, it'd just be very tedious and time-consuming

this is the first time i've seen checkered a-pillar. might be a bit of an overkill

It would probably be better to have a sign shop do a computer cut pattern all on one sheet that you could use instead of trying to align each square perfectly. There is some curve to the roof, but you could at cut the whole sheet into sections. Just a thought.
