Rear saddlebag installation problem

Hi... I just received backordered MINI rear saddlebag and tried to install it under the boot cover, but I couldn't find 4 screw holes under my boot cover as installation instruction indicates. Saddlesbags installation manual indicates that it fits R50 & R53 model. How can I install this without 4 screw hole under my boot cover? Do you think I receive wrong saddlebag? I assume that MINI makes only one model of saddlebag.
Anyone had the same problem? R50 & R53 boot cover have 4 screw holes? As you can see in the pics, I don't have those screw holes. I don't know what to do. Your help is really appreciated.

Saddlebag

What year is your Mini? I just got a saddlebag for my 2008 Mini and installed it last night. The only place I know of that you can get one for the new Minis
is:
http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=67501

The old saddlebags will not fit 2007 or 2008 models. With this new one you have to drill holes in the cover with an included diagram. It took some work but I got it in.

Good luck!

Saddlebag

Maybe they come with the Ss but they don't come with the regular 2008 Coopers. It is an option which I did not see and did not order at the time. I think they are an option for both, not sure about that. Anyway, I did NOT get one with the car.

Oh I see, I did not even know it existed when I order the car, I'm wondering if my MA gave it to me for free??

Interesting! That could be. If so, you're lucky you had a nice dealer.

Hi
My MINI is 2008 MINI Cooper S. When I picked up my Cooper S, saddlebag was backordered. So about a week later, I received it via UPS. Instruction clearly indicated that the saddlebag is for R50 & R53. As you see in the pics that I attached, my boot cover doesn't have any screw holes. How can I install saddlebag without screw holes. I sent an email to my sales woman, she hasn't responded me for long time.
I'm sure I've gotten wrong item. There is no way that I can screw this saddlebag to my boot cover.
Do you know how to install yours? Do you have any pics? Did you see that your boot cover had screw holes? I wonder how you did it. I guess you received correct saddlebag that only fits R56.

I just picked up my '08 MCS last week and there were no saddle bags in it. Cargo nets and a front license plate frame were in the boot, but no bags.

It's optional, not standard

Hi.. Rear saddlebag is not standard. You have purchase it from your dealer or when you configure your MINI online. You don't have to cry. I think another user was lucky to receive free saddlebag from MA. It happens. I received free license frame.

Saddlebag

I've attached the instructions that came with my Saddlebag. You have to use the one for the R56. The other one is for older models. I had the old one in my 2003 Mini. I hope you can zoom these up enough to read them. The illustration on the bottom of page 1 is actually the last step. You DO have to drill 4 holes in your shelf but if I can do it anyone can. They gave you the incorrect unit for your car. Best of luck.

Rudecat... Thank you so much.!!!

Thank you so much, Rudecat.
Now I'm sure that I received the wrong rear saddlebag. The one that I received is for R50 & R53. I'll call or email my sales woman again. Thank you again. I really appreciate your help.

Saddlebag

No sweat. I hope I helped. Good luck getting the correct unit. If all else fails with your dealership make them take the one they gave you back and order it from Moss Mini.

Thanks for posting the pic of the instructions Rudecat. Could you post pics of the installed saddlebags please (including interior shot-perhaps even with stuff in them)? I am really thinking it might be my next accessory.

Also, I was wondering if the pockets are fairly deep. I realize the thing isn't huge, but I was wondering if a small squirt bottle (like the size of Prima products) would fit in one of them. I would love to keep some detailing supplies in it.

Cheers,
Sherri

I got the saddlebags as a gift last christmas, and had the same issue as you about installing them. When I ordered them, the part numbers were the same for the R53 and R56. It wasn't to difficult to mod it and make it fit. I basically did what the new instructions tell you to do. Drill 4 holes, and attach it with a washer and a nut. I used wing nuts cause it was easier to tighten them that way. I think I had to bend the far left and right flaps to get it to fit flush. Then I painted the screw tops flat black to blend in with the deck. I'll try and get a picture online tomorrow.

Here are the pics I promised. I think it fits well. Just a little working was all it took.
