Give me some hope!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting my MINI dealer and test driving an MCS. What a blast!

Now, I've heard it said, that the best way to pick a color is to see it in person.

I had been leaning toward Lightning Blue or Laser Blue, that is until I saw an MC in Oxygen Blue / White. I instantly fell in love with Oxygen Blue. That color is captavating and it's a non-metallic shade of blue... Simply lovely!

The downside is that it is only available on the MC not the MCS!

I'm hoping that MINI adds more colors to it's line-up for 2009, especially non-metallic colors!

So, come on guys and gals, give me some hope that there will be other choices available for the 2009 MCS!

Has anyone heard any rumors of new paints being added other than the dropping of Astro Black for a Jet Black?

Sorry - I asked that very question about the Night Fire Red...If I ever get another MINI, i want it NFR in MCS...but according to this dealer I talked to, MINI doesn't intend to do much changing with their '09s - either colors or mechanicals.

This just means you have to get a STARTER MINI first! THen when they DO come out with exactly what you want, you can get ANOTHER MINI!!!!!!

Not sure what the plans are for Oxygen Blue...it's not available for the Clubman, it's not available for the cabrio, it's not available for the MCS....only Cooper and only coupes. If it were me I'd just go with Laser Blue....I see little reason for holding out hope that OB will be an MCS color. I mean, we had a glimmer of hope that Electric Blue (an MCS color) would be extended to Coopers (which it was in some places) but it never did happen here in the US. I'd suspect OB will be discontinued before anything else....but who knows, sometimes the stars align and dreams come true!!!

But there's nothing holding people back from ordering a pepper white and doing a custom paint job over it with factory paint. Messy job though... but hey... it gets the job done.

I think all the blues are gorgeous... love lightening blue esp. Were you really wanting for a non-metallic?

True...but I suspect it's too pricey for most folks. Funny though, the owners/shops in the UK have always seemed much more ready, willing, and able to respray a MINI than we are in the US.

I loved OB, but I had to have a MCS, therefore I picked another color. Which isn't really that hard because just about all of the Mini colors are excellent. Just make up your mind and place the order!

I won't recount the details, but I had almost uncanny luck with my MINI and the arrival of Oxygen Blue. Someone at MINI was reading my mind!!!!

I was aiming for a Mellow Yellow MINI with Black top and a license plate that says [SH0RT BUS].. But I drove off the lot in the last '07 Sparking Silver ones because I didn't want to wait weeks for it to arrive. ::sigh::

But it is true... any MINI color is nice... it'll eventually grow on you for that matter.

We've decided our favorite colour is "discontinued". There was Velvet red, that went before we finally decided to get a MINI. Then Silk Green went before we ordered. We ordered an Indi Blue and it was discontinued before he arrived (but he did arrive in Indi Blue). I managed to get a Purple Haze before that was discontinued.

We got a Lightning Blue to replace the Indi Blue (pretty similar, about 1/2 shade lighter), the wife would have liked dark silver, but that's an MCS only colour. I'd have loved to get another Purple Haze MCS, but we went for the Dark silver instead.

Remind me to check with you guys first, before I pick out the color of my next MINI...just in case I need to get it before you guys pick YOUR color and you add it to the discontinued list!!!

Me too! Well, that and Silk Green; wanted 'em both since the first time I laid eyes on 'em! Finally, everything came together with the Clubman and then...neither is available! We ended up going with Laser Blue as our "next best" and are very happy with it, but for next time...Hey MINI, are you listening?

MiniBella, I really do like the look of a non-metallic paint. Not only that but it saves me $$$ that can be used for other MINI goodies.

I know your pain StarryEyed. Before the arrival of Oxy-Blue I really liked the discontinued color called Space Blue. Even though it was a metallic it appealed to me.

Well gokart, Laser Blue like Lightning Blue are very viable alternatives.

Thanks all for propping me up when I'm down. Your input is most appreciated.

I don't know what MINI / BMW has in store for the future but I can only hope that they offer some more non-metallics. I've discussed this on other threads and I feel that MINI needs to expand their color palette by adding more non-metallics and fun colors rather than the conservative colors they now seem to favor. As an example, I know that there is a very large contingent out there desiring a non-metallic BRG (true BRG).

With my luck I will probably place my order then MINI will offer the color of my dreams!

I fear that OB will never be an option, so I guess that I should start seriously looking at my options (CR, PW, MY, LB, LiB).

Then again, maybe the stars and planets will align themselves and all will be well with the universe and my dreams will come true!
