Griffin TuneFlex AUX Flexible Charging Cradle
Bought it from the Apple Store. Some people have had problems with it. There are some bad reviews for it. Worked fine for me, except...
Warning: The cigarette lighter outlets in the MINI are very fragile, and a little undersize. The TuneFlex fits very tightly. I broke the outlet. MINI repaired it under warranty, but wont do so again.
There is a rubber flange on the TuneFlex to hold it in the socket securely. This should probably be sanded down so the fit is not so tight. Or, be sure to hold the rim of the outlet when you are removing the TuneFlex from the MINI.
I'm currently using mp3 CDs for the ability to control them via the MFSW. I may use the iPod again someday, but haven't modified it yet.
Also, the flexible stem is not stiff enough to hold up my 60 Gig iPod. So, I've put velcro on the side of the stack and the side of the TuenFlex to keep it from waving around.

3 in 1 car kit
I use the 3 in 1 car holder for ipod from satechi, purchased from amazon for $20 or so. Its a tight fit as to positioning but it works: Holds the ipod, transmits through radio (or via headphone outlet) and charges ipod.
I use the Belkin Tunebase http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Tunebas...0280984&sr=8-7
the FM transmitter works fine sometimes biut it has an audio output that you can plug to the aux input so no need for FM crappy sound. Since this one is designed for an horizontally mounthed lighter i got an L adaptor from radioshack which will also give you and extra 12V output, i use it for my GPS.

I've got the latest Griffin Ipod adapter. Bought it at Buy.com. Can't remember how much I paid. Similar to the one that Robin Casady pictures above only the stock is much sturdier. It connects to the auxiliary port right behind the lighter socket. If you get this or something like it that plugs into the lighter socket know that it's hard to remove and may, as in Robin's case, damage the socket. I put mine in there having decided to make it a permanent installation. If you want to plug in a phone charger or a radar detector or other 12 volt doodad you'll need other options...I wired up an auxiliary plug for those things under the glove box. Finally, the only thing you can control using the steering wheel or system inputs is volume. Everything else is on the Ipod itself. Having said all that this setup works great for me.

I lay mine right under the ebrake. The extremely thin cable runs from the dock past the shift boot to the aux. I also have a Belkin cupholder thing that I got for another mp3 player that goes in the cupholder and holds my ipod upright so I can see it better. I had to cut out the bottom so the docking wire could connect to the port. There's no power to it, just a holder. But I don't use it much, I like both cupholders free.
