I find it had to believe for a dealer to offer a second key as an extra or incentive to buy a car.
Hey Frank,

That was a second key, they lost the original second key and when I picked up my car there was only 1, so they had to order another one and had it sent to me. They didn't offer it as an incentive, I just noticed there was only one, and I wanted to make sure I got both of them, since they are so expensive.

The only problem now, I have the convenience package and this key wasn't programmed or something so it doesn't work like the other one. Your supposed to be able to start the car without the key inserted and unlock the door by pushing the door button. So I have to go back and get it programmed.

That's about right. I got mine 6.5 weeks after delivery. I picked up my car on March 15th.

I had the same problem. The car was delivered to me with only 1 key. They mailed me the second key, and the comfort access feature never worked.

Last week I took the car to Inskip Mini in Rhode Island, they had to delete the current working key, "reboot" the ECU, then the car accepted both keys for comfort access.

Hope that helps.

Hey - be sure they program both keys when you go in, not just the new one. When I got my car home, only one key was working (don't have the auto-start thing...the other one just didn't unlock or lock). I took it back and one of the service guys programmed the 2nd key. I was about to leave, but ran into one of the other service guys who's a member of our local MINI group and explained what I had had done. He asked if they programmed the first key again, then explained that when you program one, it kills the other and they have to both be done basically at the same time (do one, then do the other right away).

Thankfully, he took care of it. Otherwise, I would have been one hot mamma to get back home and realize that the OTHER key wasn't working!

Emailed my MA about the care package, but haven't heard back from him yet...

I just recieved my Advanture kit few days ago, but it was too tall for my mail box so the mailman crushed the box to get it to fit.
In the box, there's one floormat....wait, oh, it's a mouse pad. There's a giant erraser that looks like a dice..... Who still use errasers nowdays? Anyway, it didn't work too good; it just smear everything..... (I know it's an antenna ball). BTW, the rubber smell on the mouse pad is so strong that I may have to throw it away. Incidentally, I got the MINI parking stencil way before I put in my order. As far as dealer gifts, just a keychain that I have no use (I use a leather key pouch). Maybe I shouldn't have told them I'm keeping this MINI for 10 yrs.

I noticed that too. Maybe the smell will diminish over time.

I just ordered from MOS and I asked my MA after she printed the configuration if there was anything extra she could do, and she said she could throw in the floor mats, and she put them on the print out and gave me a copy of it. Although I guess I shouldn't hold my breath for anything else?

Hey Guys,

Is it possible when you post that you received your adventure kit, you tell us when you bought your car, so that we can get an idea how long it took for you to get it?

Thanks,
Joanne

Well, for me, I ordered my car the final week of January, and was picked up mid March. The Advanture kit came end of April. I don't know exactly which day it arrived as I only check my mail box twice a week (at the most).

I'm really new, so please don't be mad, but can someone explain to me how you would actually wave? And if this rumor has been confirmed?

mysticturner's post was sarcastic. So not to worry.

Now to wave to other Mini owner's just stick your arm out of your window and wave and they will wave back with a smile.

Haha, ok, thanks! I thought it was something like how miata owners "wink" at each other by flipping up their headlights and flashing.

I'm too gullible sometimes

I got an email from South Bay Mini today about a free Family Memory DVD... "free production of a priceless personal movie for you & your family on DVD." They take your photos and make a DVD out of it. It looks waaaaay cheesy.
