Viper Stripes: Get Them Done By The Dealer or Not?

We are looking to buy the 08 MCS and put the $500 deposit y'day at the northwest mini. There was a PW/PW MCS with red stripes (attached) that we thought looked really good.

We plan on getting the same exterior, but the dealer wants almost $1500 for the stripes, hood scoop, mirror caps and the boot handle. I think that is just too much. And, I want to know what the experts here think about it and also would like to know if aftermarket is going to be any lower.

Another annoying thing was that Northwest Mini wants $595 mark up and $50 documentation fee on top of MSRP.

I would order them from these guys. If you don't feel like you can do it I bet the MA at the dealership will tell you who can install them.

Stripes

I would also suggest ordering from aesthetic creations. They provide quality product and are helpful in answering all your questions. AC will provide you with instructions, so with a couple hours work you can do it yourself. If you are nervous about the quality of your own work, then google sign making companies in your area. In SoCal. it would have cost us $200 just to have the stripes put on, so we did it ourselves. Good luck and you will have a nice looking MINI!

Are the mirror backs, hood scoop and hatch handle just stock Chili Red pieces? If that's the case, then yes, $1500 is *way* too much.

thanks for all the suggestions! I'll check out aesthetic creations.

Not sure if the mirror caps, scoop and the handle are stock chilli red pieces or not. It sounded like they are going to paint them from our conversation with the MA.

They could paint the stock white ones chilli red to match, or you can have any body shop paint them too

I got mine from Mighty Stripes. I like 'em alot. Good price, and then I found a local guy that installed them for $200.

If you go with MightyStripes, be sure to call them first to confirm every detail of your order. Some of the example photos on their website are misleading, and they also sometimes do weird things like not putting the main stripes and the accent stripes on the same piece of backing paper, so you have to manually align all of the accent stripes.

I had the dealer install my viper stripes. They cover the entire car, including the sunroof. The complete install was around $700. It would have been cheaper but the stripes on the sunroof were considered a "sunroof decal" and ended up costing the bulk of the $700 charge. I thought it was well worth it...plus, the stripes are warrantied for 3 years.
