Market Research Drivel

I got my email spammed by MINI; it's a marketing research link that they want to use to share our demographic info. They'd like to know if we're going to buy a new TV, fridge, or car.
Somehow I thought that MINI might be above all that; foolish me.

Shame on MINI. This is a tactic that's beneath the brand.

I would have thought MINI would be above that too. Any chance it came from some where else and it looks like it came form MINI USA?

I got the same e-mail. I can't call it Spam since I asked to be contacted by MINI via e-mail for various purposes. No big deal if you don't want to fill it out...

But, it was purely a survey about your attitudes and feelings towards MINI and a few select other cars (up to 3) you might own/consider purchasing. Lots of marketing questions about attitudes towards brands, performance, etc., etc. I've received these before from different companies I like and really don't mind giving them the feedback.

If it helps MINI/BMW gain a better understanding of their customers it's ok by me, as long as it's not intrusive (and I don't think this one was, IMO).

If MINI wants to get a better understanding of their customers all they have to do is monitor NAM more closely and they will get the real info.

I agree.
The spam wasn't Mini-oriented. It was geared toward other purchases and was obviously to be sold to other companies.

I went ahead and did it, and there were a lot of questions about what features would make you more likely to purchase a MINI, etc. Some of the things that HAVE been mentioned on NAM.

Standard marketing survey about what makes them different from other brands. I counted two questions about other products I'm likely to buy. Most were more of characteristics of MINI motoring, how your car makes you feel, etc.

I got suckered in by it as well. The questions you get must depend on answers you give on previous pages. I got very few car related questions. It ended with the page that included HDTV.

I didn't get any Mini-related questions because I didn't check the box that said I was going to buy a car soon.
