I've heard it's a major PITA to install the toggle but it can be done.

This thread had me rethinking my decision not to get the anthracite headliner up until my brain kicked in and I remembered the MINI I test drove had the standard headliner and I even commented on how I liked the airy feel combined with the darker controls. Clearly the wait for my MINI is driving me to madness.

I absolutely agree with everyone who recommended having a dealer show you a car with and without it before deciding if you think you might want the anthracite.

If you like the gray look, then fine. But really... I never see it ?
You can look at a thing and not see it.
Take the test and see what I mean:

Nope.

I'm too busy worried seeing if the car doors next to me are gonna hit mine. And my passengers are trained to do this on their side.

Since I have a cabrio with a black top I didn't have to make the choice, but when considering the headliner I would have definitely sprung for the darker headliner. It is a personal choice and I have to say that while it may be overpriced I am glad that it is at least a choice that one has. Most other vehicles do not give the customer the choice of which headliner they prefer and I applaud MINI for allowing so many choices.

You know, tonight I actually looked at my headliner while waiting for my husband. Yup, I like it light. I supposed the black would blend a little better with my sunroof, but it would also make the car so "closed in."

Do you think the preference for the dark headliner has anything to do with the "blacking out" that so many guys do to the chrome pieces on the exterior? That would 'splain a lot...

I'm still not sure what color my headliner is; I refuse to notice...

The choice is simple...standard grey headliner = Jedi. Anthracite headliner = Sith. To choose the anthracite headliner is to become one with the dark side of the force. Luke has nothing on Darth Maul. Okay, okay..geek mode off.

I wouldn't have noticed either, but I was waiting for Hubby. Suddenly I couldn't miss it!

I had a gray headliner in my first Mini. I traded in with grease finger prints. I love the black headliner in my new Mini.

I had the light headliner on my first two Minis but I love dark headlining on my new Dark Silver MCS and I actually like the closed-in "cocoon" feeling it gives the whole interior.

I remembered to look yesterday; it's the light-colored one.
Thank goodness I didn't get hornswaggled into buying the pricey one...

See what I mean? It's the "man-cave" thing. Women are "light and airy."

I certainly don't think "It's a Woman Thing" I for one opted for the Antheracite because of the color scheme I was going for. Muted Grey/Black/Chrome for that reason I chose the Antheracite and the Leatherette Seats.

I think that you can just buy the switch pack. It's about the same price as if you had ordered the rear fogs to begin with, but gets rid of the problem.

Not mine; the wife and I went to Spring Thing and I was trying to talk her into letting me get a classic... ...I can fit if I move the seat back...
