IMO it's a huge must have. Just my opinion, but I find it to look legitimately bad with every seating surface other than perhaps the Redwood Red LL. It may look fine if you have a lot of grey/silver interior trimmings (brushed alloy, fluid silver or gotham grey) but aside from that I don't know...

those wheels will make handling a lot worse. They weigh a ton!! For the price you are paying for those, you could probably get a nice set of used BBS wheels that WILL improve handling..

I forgot what the exact number is but every pound of unsprung weight removed is the equivalent of removing like 40 pounds or something of sprung weight. Which is quite significant.

1 unsprung = 10 sprung is the ratio I've seen. I don't know how much veracity there is to that ratio.

The roof color matters

It does look very strange to have the grey headliner if your roof is black. If it's white, then the headliner relates well.

I ordered it on a my mcs along with only 3 other options. It was an absolute must...
Unfortunately, the weak dollar means that options like these are becoming more expensive in order to keep the base price where it is.

It's not as if black dye is more rare...

In your opinion. I have a black roof and I think my stock headliner looks fine.

I almost wonder if it's a guy thing--you know, the "man-cave" atmosphere. I'm just the opposite--my house is "light and airy" and so is my car.

True, but you've got a black roof!

Seriously, most of the respondents in this thread are guys, and I don't see many votes for the stock headliner. BTW, someone in this thread asked if it was vinyl--nope, just the standard mouse fuzz every other car has. Maybe that's why so many people like the black. I dunno--I still like "light and airy." (You should see my house--totally windows. Well, almost )

Take out the liner entirely and roll on a coat of textured truck bed-liner. It will be dark, never sag, and be unique...

You guys are silly. Why don't you do your nails too? You know, do a little sumthin-sumtin for yourself; a little indulgence...

When I drive, I look out the windshield (sometimes my eyes are closed too...); I don't look at or consider the headliner at all.

The anthracite headliner is as much a "need" for me as is the steering wheel.

As has been stated, why spend $20,000 (who was able to build a MINI for that much, anyway??) to $35,000 (realistically) on a new car and then skimp on $250 ? I'll tell you who would.....

It all boils down to what the particular option in question is worth to *you* personally, not the actual added intrinsic value of the optional parts.

For example, I don't think that the metallic colours are "worth" $450 more than the non-metallic choices, but I didn't let that dictate the colour I chose. Likewise, while there are plenty of people that liked the 1st-gen NAV system enough to spend $2000 on it, I personally wouldn't have taken it even if it had been a no-cost option. (In fact, the NAV is one of the few options I *didn't* get).

Yep, it's all about personal choice, of course.

And I'm only poking a little fun at those who wanted the anthracite but *refuse* to pay $250 for it.

You're going to own that car for, what, 5 years, or so ? That's a long time to live with a car you're not completely happy with, over a relatively tiny amount of money.

I saw cars with and with out it in the showroom, and for the color choice I selected, did not feel that the option was worth $250 or even $50.

It will be great!!

Honestly, unless you are obsessed with the headliner , you probably won't even notice it. I don't sit and contemplate my headliner. It's not as if it looks cheap or is any less quality than the anthracite one...just a different color.

Above all ENJOY it when you get it.

Let's see some more pics of those gray headliners, folks ! I've only seen one in my life so I hate to judge based on that one.

Post 'em if you got 'em ! And not just the headliner... it would be interesting to see how that color works with the seats, dash, etc.

It is my feeling that a grey headliner makes more sense when you have a white roof, because it relates to something else on the car.

Pepper White, Pure Silver, these colors can get away with a black top and the grey headliner ( FACT )

TJ- I checked out your gallery, car looks good

I think the anthracite headliner should be thought of in the same way as metallic paint: an overpriced option that should be offered at no additional cost.

Some options really do reresent value for money, others do not. That might make an interesting thread "True Value of MINI Options"

It's not just a headliner. Most or all of the grey headliner folks in this thread are reducing it to a headliner which I agree, you don't notice much or at all when driving. The A pillars, on the other hand, blend seamlessly with the dash color and disappear when they are anthracite. This is what makes it worth it, coming from someone who lives in and prefers a house with large expanses of glass.

You're still going to love the car without the anthracite. In my opinion.

Agreed. Cars w/ too much darkness in the interior really creep me out personally.
