How long is the wait?

March 13, Day 3.

Can't sleep.

How long does it take to build and ship an '08 Cooper S to Toronto?

The dealer said it would be shipped by the end of May?

Has anyone in the area received one any earlier than 2 and 1/2 months?

I did with my '07, including allowances for the introduction date. Toronto's likely a different kettle of fish, though...

I remember a guy waiting in Hawaii for his, back in the first days of the R56. I think it was about 4 months! (Panama Canal and all.)

The panama canal isn't a problem for getting cars over to this coast. I received my MINI right smack on the dot, 2 months after I ordered it. It really depends a lot on whether the dealer just stuck you in a late production slot, or they had one that was coming up in the next few days that you'll go under. It shouldn't take more than 3 months to get your car.

It was one of the very early R56s, though, and there was a terrible time getting them delivered on the West Coast back then.

The wait really depends on your build date, and yes, each day is excruciating

Mine took a day under two months.

I ordered my MCS on 1-22-08 and picked it up 2-27-08 in Buffalo NY. Total of 5 weeks 1 day. I wouldn't count on anything less than that.

Do Toyota buyers obsess over the time 'til delivery, too?

I know, I know--I did it too. The only difference was that I was waiting for an "unknown." The order was placed 12/13/06, before there was even so much as a picture of the interior, or a color chart! No dealer in the U.S. had even the slightest clue how the new car would handle. My MA told us that the '07s would have a "totally different" feel than an '06--and that was as far as it went.

Introduction was 2/17--mandatory, although I did hear of one--and only one--delivered on 2/16. My delivery date was 2/21.

BTW, it helps immensely if you track the car's travel across the Pond. Except that mine went over on one of the ships that doesn't report position daily, so it doesn't always work.

For me, it will be stacks of car payments on a boat looming closer and closer. Sorry to be a killjoy. Maybe if I'm lucky, it will never come

Hi there! I'm waiting also. Placed my order on 3/7. On 3/13 her status changed to "waiting for production." Will she go directly to "waiting for shipment" or does she get an actual Born on Date?
Stella will be an '08 MCS, PW/B, Carbon Blk lounge leather w/Cream color line, English Oak, Convenience, Sport, Premium, Cold Weather, Xenon, White Signals, Rear Fogs, 17" Crown-Spoke Wheels
I have a feeling this forum will help me get through the next few weeks.

Well, if you're tracking things on the website, know that it is very far behind, and may never catch up. Mine was completed at about the same time that it was still "scheduled for production."

Bug the people at ASK MINI if you want better information. They can't tell anything after it leaves England, though.

Mine didn't either at that point, nor did color or all of my options. In fact, some of the options, such as LSD, never did match with what the website listed. I had to rely on ASK MINI and my MA to reassure myself (and I still double checked when I got the car!).

It took my MCS one month and 3 days from the day i ordered (2/9- Sat) until it arrived at the dealership (last wed 3-12).

My production number and details on my Owners Lounge were wrong for a few days too. It fixed itself. It didn't even have the right COLOR for me at first. I freaked a bit at first but it should fix itself.

Ordered my MINI on the 11th. You're right.. the wait is killing me. At least all the snow should be off the ground by the time I take delivery.

I know the wait is the worst. I got mine a little over 2 months after I ordered it. What took the longest is waiting at the docks to be put on the boat to sail over. I think I checked it everyday. Just a tip though: When it gets to the distribution center give your dealer a call. Mine had been dropped off at the dealer the same day it updated on line that it just hit the states.

Thanks for the replies.
Sounds like there's some hope of maybe a month and 1/2 if I'm lucky.
Anyway, I know there's lots of support out there.

I think I'll take a week off work once it arrives.

You know, my biggest problem with the wait was that I was nursing a sick car. Not a trade in, but one I needed for transportation. I didn't want to fix the $1000 problem it had, but I was afraid I would have to if the MINI didn't show up soon.
