R56 Driving Lamp Busted
Driving Lamp Busted
I balked at my dealer's $800+ quote on buying and installing driving lamps. Instead I purchased through morristown and installed them myself for half the cost. However, after only three months one of them was cracked by a rock!
Have other people experienced this? I'm wondering if I'm really unlucky or I really need to leave the covers on all the time...which would suck.
Is it possible to get the glass replaced? It is beyond repair. It would really suck to have to buy two new lamps because of this...

You might be able to get some flutted glass lenses for them, but I'm not sure. If I hadn't gone ahead and did my own installation of the OEM's like you I probably would have just gotten some Cibie' Tango's or Oscar's. I only say this because the "throw" of the light with OEM's is good, but not nearly as good as some of the Cibie lights.
I can imagine how you feel though. I wouldn't want my lamps all jacked up either because I like the look of the stock one's. I'd try and get new glass, and if that doesn't work, then get aftermarket. Good luck, and if you find a company that makes good glass, let us all know.
