...but it looks like about 4 feet. I think a CB antenna is about the same length!

Mine was to long so I got an Alta 4" shorty Antenna. Like the looks and it picks up radio signals just fine.

I too bought the stubby to ease that RC-car look. Honestly, it didn't bug me until I saw someone liken MINIs to RC-cars here on NAM, then every time I saw my damn car I couldn't get that image out of my mind. This past weekend when I was driving with several R53s, all of which had stock antennas, it was kind of humorous.

Btw, fastmini.net (I think) sells two short antennas. I bought the bullet antenna originally, which is around 2". Fortunately, they sent the one for the R53 instead of the R56, so I had to send it back. I had it replaced with a stubby. It would've just looked....weird, to say the least, and not fitting whatsoever. Just an FYI.

Also, I was very worried about decreased reception as I live and drive through a very rural area all the time in which reception isn't great anyway. My reception hasn't dropped, and if anything got better, with the new antenna. The MINI's reception in general is a TON better than the '05 Kia Optima we had before.

I pick up my car on Saturday and my stubby antenna arrived today. It'll be the first "mod" I make

The reception on these antennae, already as long as they are, simply suck. Like my other Bimmers, they pick up little or no reception in the urban jungle.

So unless you're mostly listening to CD's or satellite, I wouldn't go for the shorter antenna.
