Need your input on 17 wheels

All,

Which 17" wheel would you go with? Option 1 or 2?

Wheel #1 is $100 #2 is $123 per wheel on TireRack....

Link to Wheel #1
Link to Wheel #2

Thanks

I like number 2 the best. I never liked that "slotted" look on wheels.

Number 1 for me. I like a good 5 spoke, and don't care much for the 2 sets of spokes in number 2.

# 1 would be easier to keep clean. Damn OCD always getting in the way...

Another vote for #1. I like the double-spoke 5 star design.

Why do they have different bolt patterns?

Before clicking on the tirerack links, i liked #1 better. I like how the wheel rim on #1 is de-emphasized as in not seeing a lot of the wheel lip, makes the wheels look bigger.

After clicking on the tirerack links.... definitely #1. #2 with the 2nd set of spokes just looks goofy.

After looking at the rack a few times. I like #2 better than #1.

#1 looks like it has a fake reenforcement with the black under the slots.

I like the lip on #2 but I know #1 would be easier to clean. #2 looks like it would be heavier than #1, plus it's made in China so the paint could be a health hazard.

Out those, definitely #1. 5 spokes are classic. Only issue is it's kinda heavy at 21lbs... Still an improvement over OEM 17's though, and I'd bet option #2 is heavier yet. Also I'm not at all a fan of two sets of spokes.

I almost bought the MSW wheel (#1) but stopped because I found better wheels to decide from on Discounttiredirect.com ..............just a hint You can never go wrong with Konig wheels. pay just a little more for quality and finish.

Wheel #1 is lighter at 21 lbs each. +37mm offset is only good for stock suspension, if you drop your MINI you will likely rub.

Wheel #2 is new to tirerack and not available until 4/11/08.
There is no offset listed which worries me.
Could be a fairly heavy rim.

Appearance and weight favor #1 for me.

I don't care how they look.
Which one is lighter? Easier to clean?
I'd still go with lighter...
And 21 is not light, btw. Mine are 17 an that's not even light (but they were $70 and cheap beats light sometimes when you're married).

at first glance of your pics I said #2, but after seeing the close-ups I'd definitely pick #1. I wouldn't get such a low offset rim though, stock is +48. It will likely make torque steer worse.

I went with "fairly" light wheels at about 17lbs (Team Dynamics) and dumped the run-flats as well, probably saved 8+ lbs per wheel. The anthracite color doesn't show up well in my cell phone picture but I really like the wheels, think they were about $165.00 ea.
If you get an open pattern wheel like #1 or 2 from you original post, keep in mind you will suddenly see a lot more rotor and brake.
I wanted to upgrade my brakes before auto crossing or doing any track time so I did. Actually put the new wheels on first then promptly upgraded to slotted rotors and painted the calipers in lieu of replacing them all together.

Am I allowed to say "neither"?

Wheels are hard enough to keep clean without adding slots, nooks and crannies, especially with our loveable German brake dust .

21 pounds sounds heavy for non-OEM wheels, but that's not really my department.
