Saturday the tire warning light comes on in the tach (I don't have the TPS gizmo, just the early rotation sensor). Nothing lights in the speedo. OK, check the pressures. 27psi rear driver's side and there's a nail head. I'm near my favorite Discount Tire so I pop in. They say they'll fix 'er right up. I kill some time at the mall and they call after about an hour to pick 'er up. I get out my CC and they say "it's no charge". Okay thanks guys. The only thing I can figure is I bought a set of tires for my Jeep GC there and bought the $100 warranty with them. But I'm in the Mini now (the Jeep is DTR). Go figure. They did torque it to 100 lbs Arnbut, says so right on the receipt!

Discount tires will repair tires at no charge for anyone. I had a front end vibration which was due to a few missing lug nuts on one wheel and they not only diagonosed the problem, but balanced the tire and charged me NOTHING. It is not worth using anyone else.

I think Discount uses this as a marketing campaign, a successful one at that since I have purchased tires from them after my first experience getting a flat fixed.
On my last car I purchased tires at Sears, but since Sears is really now K-Mart they scratched the wheels, missed tightening a lug nut, and didn't do a good balance. When I had a flat that needed the tire replaced I made sure to not go to Sears and went to Discount. I was treated well. Later I returned and had Discount balance the tires. The 3 Sears were all off balance and after Discount fix up it was much smoother to drive.
This was the Bellevue, WA Discount tire store where I received the good service.

Life is good...

I used a repaired runflat for a long time; if they did it right and you caught it in time, no worries. Well, no worries other than the usual, that is.

I'll look for one of those around here.

The last time I got tires off the shelf, which is the
last time, it was at Just Tires.

They scratched my rims, got grease on the seat
and the A pillar. It's some super nasty grease too, the
A pillar is white textured plastic I can't get it off.
AND the horror of all horrors, I had metal valve stems
that matched the rims (factory). They take these off
and throw them away and put on those leaky rubber things
and charge me $20.

I made them get me a replacement set but it's obvious they
are not OEM because I go to have them put on by my new found
competant mechanic, and he can't stop them from leaking.

It's like they went out of their way to fk up my car.....

I'm going to find out what it takes extra to change these run flats.
If my mechanic can't do it that's the only reason I see to
abandon them. The last thing I need it to put a set of tires on
and 2 months later figure out all my rims are bent (like what happened
to my MG 20 years ago)

Good to hear news of discount tire
I see they are called America's Tire in the bay area. I hope they are also good here because I'll need to replace my rapidly-wearing front runflats by the time summer comes around.

We used to go to Big O in santa cruz but had too many problems -- they lost my metal MINI valve caps on one trip, put in too-short valve stems on another trip, busted a hubcap on our Jetta, etc. Too much hassle to deal with Big O because each trip ends up requiring a second, or a third, in the case of the hubcap.

I LOVE the America's Tire on Steven's Creek in Santa Clara (they've treated me very well), but the store in Campbell is pretty good too. We used to have one here on Water, but it was bought by Firestone.

I wish I was half as happy as the guys who work at America's Tire. I swear they put prozac in the coffee!
