Hi - I'm a new MINI owner with a late '07 MCS. I've read the thread discussing more frequent oil changes and it sounds like a wise investment to me. I had my first oil change done at 1200 mi, my next will be at 5000 and then every 5000 mi after that.

So my question is besides that what else are people doing beyond factory recommendations? I want my MINI to last. Thanks.

 

Rotate your tires, and check tire pressure. Also check the fluid levels, and wash the car.

 

Especially tire pressures!

I get my car washed regularly, too, but last week the car wash was closed. He was trimming the trees.

 

Don't forget to wash the underside reguarly.

I'm not sure this applies as much to this car what with
everything being run through a central computer.
But with my CRX I would operate all controls once per week,
whether needed or not. (turn the dash light dim, turn it
to heat for a few mins in the summer, etc etc etc)
