Need to find a Wrecked R56

I need everyones help. If you know someone who, knows someone, who knows someone, who knows where to find, unfortunatly, a wrecked Mini Cooper, really any R56, At a junck yard etc, Please let me know.

I need the Upper Dash Center Vent Cover. It's the vent that is on top of the dashboard in the center.

When I added the chrome line interior to my Mini, I shouldn't of taken the entire cover off the dash and I snapped the clips that hold it in place. Now it stick's up and wont clip in.

I posted this because in order to get that piece I need to order the entire top dashboard, Not fun.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Heres a photo of the vent I am looking for (please ignor the red circles)

I have found a few in the past by doing a Google search under " 2007 Salvage Mini".

Thanks OXYBLUE.

Also If anyone knows where I can get parts on a 07' 08' R56 WITHOUT buying the entire wrecked car. Someplace that would sell parts of the wrecked MINI. I'm finding places that only sell the entire car, not good.

Any chance you could glue that piece in where the clips broke?

No because im an Idiot and cut the broken clips off (because they were broken) Hopeing it would just sit in the dash but it stick's up still. I have double sided taped on there right now, but its not holding. I was going to super-glue it but dont want to take a chance and mess up my dash.

I gotcha. That's just crazy that part isn't available separately. It's a separate piece. Good luck. I'll keep my eye out for one just in case.

www.car-part.com is a pretty good resource for searching junk yards. It might help you find what you're looking for. To find the Mini Cooper on there, you'll have to select "BMW Mini Cooper" from the drop down list.

Maybe you could try Mini2 across the pond for someone who knows where to get that used part over there.

Update.

Guy's and Girl's if you see a wrecked MINI or heard of one please let me know. I also posted this on MINI2 as well. JFMAN's wrecked mini, the part was broken.

I just need to find a junk yard that a 2007+ MINI is at, that I can get this part. There HAS to be one sitting somewhere in the world.

This makes me soo frustrated.

You might want to check with car stereo install shops that do insurance work. When a friend worked at a shop they were always replacing dashboards of cars that were broken into and the dash damaged. The damaged dash just went in the trash.

Any luck on your part? I just picked up a '07 S motor(and a few other parts) from a buddy who owns a junkyard and remembered your search. Unfortunately the salvaged MINI was a roll over and the dash vent was smashed. He did say I'll be the first one to know when he gets another R56 and he will hold the part for me.He get's MINIs on a regular basis but most are R53s.The late model cars are stripped fast when they hit the salvage yard.Suxx unless your there when it arrives on the flatbed.

If your vent is aesthetically pristine on the outside with just broken inner clips that are normally hidden from view, I would think there might be an anchoring solution that doesn't necessitate purchasing new dash pieces.

This is total n00b speculation from a mechanically inclined new MINI owner who's never taken his MINI apart.

If the part is OK as far as outward appearance goes, and you're worried about mucking it up by supergluing it-take it to someone who does custom upholstery and probably fixes stuff like this all the time. I would believe they should be able to affix it in a correct manner-epoxy maybe-or some other type of glue that is not runny. You can keep looking for the correect part, but I believe that gluing the old one in palce is the correct answer. You just need to find the person who does stuff like that professionally. Good luck! Mike Predina.
