To me, Astro Black and Carbon Black are very very very similar. I wonder if they are the same color, just with a different name...

My friend used to have a Carbon Black M5 but sold it before I got my astro black MCS, so I never got to compare them side by side. Next time I'm around a carbon black M car i'll try to park next to it to compare!

Gotta love those metallic colors from BMW...they seem to change due to lighting. My Cosmo M3 looked black at night, but dark grey during the day, and bluish under flourescent lighting...very cool.

Does Astro Black work the same way?

Yup, it does!

The color combo affects how it looks too. I have a white roof, white stripes, and white turn signals...and in my opinion the contrast makes the car look more black. I'm thinking about getting some white wheels which should probably help further that whole contrast thing. Also, after I had the windows tinted with 13%, it looked blacker than it did before. But still, in the sun and under flourescent lights its midnight blue, and varies like you said under different lighting/distances/angles. I LOVE IT! (Except cleaning it...ugh!)

All I know is that I love the Astro Black! It combines my two favorite colors.

I didn't know...I was afraid to buy another black car. Like you say, cleaning is a pain...Though the MINI is so small, it wouldn't be too big a hassle.

I went with Dark Silver because it still looks clean, even when its dirty.
