Please Help - New to Forum

I am currently looking to purchase an 08 MCS and I see they have Dynamic stability control (DSC) and I was wondering what it does and is it worth to get. Also I was looking at the Limited Slip Differential and I am debating weather to add that or not.

Thanks

DSC monitors the vehcles steering and direction of travel. If the MINI starts to skid, DSC can apply braking to individual tires to prevent or correct the skid. Seems to be a very smart and effective system.
As for LSD, those that have it love and recommend it, those that don't mostly don't miss it and would probably tell you "it's your call".
NAM has a pretty good search engine, especially using the advance search. Lots of topics have been addressed from several perspectives. Its under the yellow MINI on the top/right of the page.
Welcome to NAM. Hope you get yours soon, with all you want!

DSC is a must have safety feature. Get it. If it helps you avoid an accident one time, it has more than paid for itself.

LSD is a performance enhancement. It helps get power to the ground more effectively during acceleration. If one of the drive wheels starts to spin, LSD transfers power to the other wheel. If you don't get it, there is a computer system in all MINIs called ASTC that will come into play. When a drive wheel starts to spin, ASTC will either apply the brake to that wheel, and/or cut engine power. This can cause an MCS to seem to bog down under heavy acceleration.

YES! Well, I do anyway . I call the DCS the "flip mode" button. It's nice to have, I always turn it off so I have complete control but it does do it's job very effectively when on.

As for the LSD - Definitely...have both & would recommend both!

So, How's the anticipation going?

If you don't know if you need LSD then you probably don't drive hard enough to make a difference. However, in saying that, you should get it. If you get it now and become a spirited driver in the corners you'll notice the difference. If you don't get it and become a spirited driver in the corners you'll want a new car with LSD.

DSC? Yup, get it. You can always turn it off but in daily driving its an excellent safety feature for that just in case scenario that catches you off-guard.
